The drives in these are 15 mm high so definitely not. They are 5.5 mm too high.

Not without the case extender, 3tb's are too fat to fit in the slot of the PS4

It doesn't have the SATA connector inside only USB.... The Seagate ones seem to be the only with SATA inside...!

The drive passed the extended test in WD 1.29. Should I trust it or the "Drive Manager" software installed on the drive which said the drive failed its test (but gave zero diagnostic results)?

I used Drive Manager - which was part of the software suite that came preloaded on the drive. The full test took about 5 hours. I wasn't at the PC during that time but did glance when it was at 70% checked. I returned to find the drive had failed the test and a pop-up advised I got a RMA for the disc from the retailer. The Drive Manager quick test (1 minute) passed, however.
Now running the WD drive tool, and that's going to take an age. The drive has passed WD's SMART analysis. Even it it passes the WD test I am concerned that Drive Manager failed the disc, so I will probably return it.

Like damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!, hmmmmmmmm, I see?.
What Disk Checking Software did you use to check your Portable Hard Drive in the first place? (you never specified?, lol), as whatever you DID use, could be a bit useful for me too perhaps?, thanx. :-)
I hear that SpinRite as a Diagnostic Disk Checker is goooooooooood too mind?, lol.
Mines not here yet, so unless it shows up for me in tomorrows Post, I'll have the whole weekend to rather play with in finding the PERFECT Software to say 'fix issues' as it were?, hehehe. :-)

Yeah the packaging was a complete joke, some of the worst I've ever seen.
The results are presented differently for each utility but they are essentially all testing for the same things. I use western digital datalifeguard for all drives; when you first launch it will scan for installed drives and show you the 'SMART status' of all drives (SMART status is basically a warning that the drive is likely to fail in the future if it hasn't already) then as for the diagnostic results (right-click drive and choose short/extended test) they will be presented in a text format which you can then copy and paste into a notepad file or email or whatever you want.
I used partition wizard this time to confirm fault and that presents results as green and red blocks on the screen (1 red block = unrecoverable bad sectors = fail). Crystaldiskinfo can also report SMART status of the drive amongst other useful things.
Personally, IMO any confirmed fail is enough to RMA when it comes to hard drives as they are temperamental things at best. Also, drive failure rate tends to be a bath-tub curve, meaning the most likely failures of drives is when you first get them or at end-of-life product life (ie. 5 years or so)

Thanks derp. It's so frustrating that to save a couple of pence they sent these drives out in unprotected packaging - no bubble wrap or paper to protect a product sensitive to movement that can easily be damaged in transit.
Am currently trying Seatools as the diagnostic tool on the drive itself did nothing other than tell me the drive had failed the long test and to get an RMA. Test results please? Will try the WD tool you mention if the disc passes the Seatool long fix test.

Best disk check utilities are Western Digital DataLifeguard 1.29 (works on all drives not just WD), Partition Wizard (has free version), Seatools for Windows (useful for Seagate drives such as this one) then there's some other useful utilities like CrystalDiskInfo but that's slightly different.
Hope that helps

Mine arrived also, but not too impressed it was dispatched in a large box without any padding to protect the drive in transit. Doing a full diagnostic test before using.

Mine arrived yesterday in a large empty box, absolutely useless packaging.
Plugged in, starting transferring data, crashed windows explorer *sigh*.
Unable to complete full format due to bad blocks.
Confirmed faulty, failed several disk check utilities.
Not great :l

The complete diagnostic test revealed errors but provides no details of what they are. Merely a generic message advising to get a return number for the drive. I then did a quick test and the drive passed that fine.
Anyone know any more reliable drive testing software which actually gives details of the results?

That's a lot of effort there arguing about the apparent lack of security on your phone. Yet based on your spelling, I am assuming you logged in and used your phone on here to make the comments?
Either way, so what if you don't like using your phone to buy stuff? Other's (including myself) have no objections to making a purchase using a mobile and as yet I have not had my bank accounts cleaned out or hacked by Anonymous! I use common sense, which is surprisingly effective. You should try it! That is all :-)

If you're worried about using the app why not just connect your phone via wifi to your home network and then it'd be as safe as using your laptop, surely?
£61.99 for this with the app and "applove" code seems a better deal to me than the Toshiba of the same capacity for £74.99.
