Thought this was a cracking deal as my ID contract was ending. I was lucky enough last year to get the Huawei P8 on a 1 year deal from Id Mobile. The phone is great and ID coverage has been great as well. I can't see a better deal out there (cashback - no thanks) as I have no requirement to change my phone. The ID app is pretty good also, though it can be temperamental on occasion!
The link is to there SIM only deals as there seems to be decent offers at the moment.
You forgot to tell people the data goes back to 500mb after 12mths

Very helpful!. I'm back with GiffGaff at the moment on the cheapest sim they do but the O2 signal round here is rubbish and I was wondering whether there was any prospect of getting back to iD for this sim (which is a better deal for me, and better signal and speeds all round). From your experience, it looks like I can. I'll start on Monday.

My contract with ID mobile expired a few days ago. I bobbed into CPW at weekend to see what they could do for me. To be honest it seemed like they were trying to get rid of me. Still, I've had no problem with the actual service and am loathe to go back to GiffGaff as the o2 network where I live and where I work (16 miles apart) is gash. Decisions, decisions...
Edit: I just gave IDM a call. Got through quickly (although the automated security system wasn't working). The lady I spoke to was very nice but the upshot is this:
- they can't upgrade IDM to IDM
- they can't change anything about my current (now rolling one month) contract
- I can cancel and then start a new contract, however...
- if I cancel (with a PAC code to keep my number), I can't go back to IDM with my same number
That looks like a list of threats but the lady was very apologetic. The problems are all down to their systems which they are working hard to resolve. She did offer me extra minutes and data to keep hold of me but I don't come anywhere near to using my current allowances so no good to me. I've taken the PAC as I've had my cool looking mobile number for about 20 years and would be very sad if I lost it.

Hope this reply doesn't come too late to help you, but I too just finished my contract with iD Mobile having been lucky enough to get the Huawei P8 on a very cheap one year deal (to balance all the negative comments from people on here I don't have a bad word to say about iD - great signal and service and the customer service advisors, despite not being in the UK, are as helpful as any other company's.)
They have said they are working on being able to port people straight from yearly/2 yearly contracts to 1 month rolling contracts and I believe that will happen at some point, they're still a fairly new company after all.
In the meantime I just got my PAC code from iD, took out the cheapest Giffgaff sim (£5) and ported my number over to Giffgaff. No need to give notice on ending your contract, the port ends your contract with iD straight away. Then I took out my current £7.50/month rolling 1 month contract with iD and ported my number from Giffgaff back to iD, a bit of a faff I'll admit and took about a week for the whole process to complete (I started on Monday as ports only take place on working days), but it meant I got to keep my number and stay with iD (who still offer some of the best value contracts - I get 250 min, 5000 texts and 2gb of data, which drops to 1gb after 12 months) for only an additional £5 outlay, win win for me.
I looked into trying to do this with a free sim (such as a PAYG O2 one), but I believe a sim needs to be activated before you can port a number to it and O2 sims only become activated when you load them with credit.
Hope this helps you and others.

I can't reiterate how utterly bobbins iD are. Their billing system is unbelievably half baked and their call centre literally have no idea how to deal with anything even vaguely 'abnormal'. I manage the account of somebody with serious panic/anxiety issues who was left with no service because iD had cut her off. The reason?
I set up the mobile with a Santander account DD. Later on (and after many many many attempts to get in to the account section of the website, which very rarely worked), I changed the direct debit to a NatWest account. All seemed to work, DDs were set up etc.
I then used the current account switch service to move from Santander to TSB. Santander forward the (redundant) DD to TSB. I see the DD in TSB, shut it off because it's not needed any more. They get the notification from TSB that I'd cancelled the (redundant!) DD, and shut down the *current* DD. I get a notification from ID that it's been shut down, so I ring them and tell them to set it back up and charge me correctly. They agree. The phone was disconnected a couple of days later.
Then comes trying to get it re-enabled - try and log on - website is down. Ring up, select option to make a payment. Doesn't mention which cards are accepted, so try Amex - key in 15 digit card, which is accepted and then asks for a 4 digit security code (which is only an amex thing, so obviously set up to take them). Card declines. Try a Mastercard, also declines. Get through to an operator who tells me I have insufficient funds (not true). I ask him to try again, he takes my Amex card again, tries to process it, fails. At this point he tells me they don't accept credit cards. In a rage I give him my Mastercard (a credit card!!) again and it's accepted. I tell him that was a credit card and he puts me on hold presumably through sheer confusion.
Utterly clueless.
I asked for my PAC code and an official complaint to go in about it. I get an email saying they will investigate (tosh) and nothing else. These people do not deserve your time or money, trust me.

So much for shock-proof! My daughters been using this for a few months. I rang up to see why I have been paying £10 a month instead of £5 and discovered that after the initial 1gb, you are allowed to go 50mb over at the extortionate cost of an additional £5 before the data is capped. So it has actually been £10 a month for 250mins, 5000 texts and 1.05gb

BT Mobile do the same; 10p/MB beyond your data allowance, though they don't even have the decency to limit you to 50MB!

This is not really iD Mobile's fault, more a case of you not reading your daughter's terms and conditions carefully enough. I have the £7.50 per month shockproof tariff and it is fairly clear there is a £5 capped limit. Although I do agree with you that the cap is too high and would prefer it if they let you select a £0 cap!

good luck joining new contract. they kicked me out after i just wanted to swap to a different plan. they told me to leave first, which i did then rejoin.but after i submit a new contract, they just keep refusing my application due to credit check.
i dont own any debts. it is only a £5 contract. i dont know what are their problem.

Maybe you should have just took the new contract out before cancelling the old one for the sake of a couple of quid
Its true you cannot upgrade you have to leave and then go back.
Trouble is its a bit hit and miss whether you can get a contract with any network at the moment and its nothing to do with having good or bad credit you can have a perfect credit and still get refused.
Lots of people have been going over to life mobile and lots of people have been refused the contract like i say even with excellent credit so your not guaranteed of getting a contract.

My wife had a similar issue with another company, despite never having been in debt for her whole life. Turned out that she did not have a bad credit rating but she simply did not have a rating at all, positive or negative. As far as credit companies are concerned if they don,t know you exist because you never ever had any form of debt, then they treat you negatively which is a serious shortcoming on their part, since they could not be more wrong.

This is the exact reason I've never had a mobile phone contract and always go payg, you only need an inadvertent moment when you exceed your data or calls and you get royally stitched up, calls outside your allowance are often 40p or more per minute, why, when no payg plan charges you that much per minute?

iD Mobile are the WORST company to deal with. I took out two sim only deals with them. Ended up being three as they got the first wrong and I had to cancel then do another. They literally messed up every single one. On one they set up four direct debits on my account.
Another showed I had been using data which is quite a feat considering I hadn't inserted the SIM into my phone yet.
Signal showed solid but often couldnt get data, even in areas I knew I'd used 3 before.
Customer service terrible. In the end I decided that for the sake of saving £5 a month I'd rather pay the extra and switched back to GiffGaff.

What I dont understand is if this is a one month contract what happens at the end of the month. Are you obliged to renew? If so do you have to give notice before you leave? Do you have to renew every month or just use it on months you choose to when there has been a gap?
malky39 to Old Gold
5 Jul 16#20
It's a one month rolling contact so if you do nothing it just keeps going and they take the £5 out your account. If you want to cancel you give 30 days notice and they will charge you for that 30 days. But any company I have left has only charged me for the days until my number had been ported and not the full 30 days

A month or so ago, for my son, I phoned VirginMobile to request a PAC code to move to iD. Instead they offered me 1GB data on the £5/m contract so I stayed (and it is unlimited texts).

They are ok if 3 work for you and you don't ask them for anything complex.
Annoyingly, that their alerts don't recognise the double data and will warn you when you've used most and all of the original amount.
Also, their non-EU roaming costs are extortionate e.g. Canada is £5 per minute outgoing, £1.25 incoming and £1 per text message.

Hi, have you actually taken up this offer? I'm in the same boat having got the P8 last year, but ID won't let me swap to a different plan without ending my contract first and then rejoining (apparently they can't just transfer you over). If they've moved you to a new contract I'd like know, as would stay within but not paying £21 a month for 1gb data.
