Well reviewed headphones at the RRP of £150. At £26 these are an amazing steal!

Review: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/tvs-entertainment/headphones/53244/sony-mdr-10rc-review

They are on-ear headphones. Come with two detachable cables (one with a mic). Also available in black for £30.

Thanks for posting, Just to clarify I've had a number of sets of expensive ear phones as well as headphones from the likes of Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, UE, Sony and Audio Technica.I don't profess to be an audiophile however I do like to think I know the difference between clarity...muddyness and flat sounding stuff etc.....

I pick up a set of these today from Argos in black for £4 more. Opening the box I was greeted with a nice sturdy inner box with a bit more quality than some stuff you buy. First impressions the headphones look great in black in my opinion, the red and brushed silver really set them off. They don't look cheap or naff, definitely more of a premium looking and feeling product. The ear cups swivel and move about buttery smooth. They are very light and the faux leather cushions and headband are really nice and soft. The extension and folding mechanisms all look well made and have metal components instead of plastic. Yes you could break them if you're ham fisted but if you take care of your stuff they should last you a long while. I don't have the problem of them feeling like they are falling off when leaning forward and after over an hours use my ears weren't too hot nor did they hurt in any way. They are very comfy headphones.

I tried them with my PS4/Xbox One and then with my phone, sony walkman and finally the pc with some flac files.
I'm pleasantly surprised by the sound. They lack a tiny bit of clarity with music but that's soon sorted with tweaking the eq a little increasing the treble just a touch. I didn't believe the claim of 5hz on the lower end however they are actually pretty bassy. For gaming this is brilliant as I think you want that with rumbling engines or shooting and explosions. For music the bass is good in some stuff but can sound a little muddy/overpowering in other songs. Yet again I just tweaked the eq down slightly on the low end and then they sounded great. Bare in mind these are only little tweaks I'm making to the EQ. By no means would I say these sound bad straight out the box. Don't forget as well that headphones will need to burn in with use to reveal their true potential.

I'd be happy if I'd paid £70-£80 for these to be fair so I'm more than happy at this bargain price.

Don't many reviews on here but was happy with these so hope this helps someone else out. Thanks for posting the deal

the 'on ear' comment was to make clear they're not 'over ear' type headphones. If you're struggling to understand 'on ear' headphones sit on the ear, 'over ear' the headphones sit on your face and your ear are inside the cups.

On that Note I have a pair of AKG 460s (same as 450/1 just 'special editions') They are a few years old now and wearing out a bit. I also damaged the cable slightly. Would you recommend sticking with another AKG pair over these sonys? I'm mainly talking about sound quality (mainly heavy metal/classical/techno) and comfort. Anything else I do not consider as much (looks, features, mic capablity, noise cancelling, gold plated, carry cases.

TLDR: These or stick with AKGs?

Screw the AKG K451/ 452. Get some Meizu hd50 from Gearbest.com. I had the AKG but the meizu beat them hands down for comfort, sound quality and overall quality. They have full Android control (volume and skip button). Currently £35 in flash sale.

I just bought some in Black from argos for £29.99. I have a pair of Bose Sound True on ear and these blow them away. Really well made, high quality headphones. Very clear, strong bass (not boomy) really HQ. Amazing for £89. For £29.99 they are an absolute bargain. Looking around the high street/supermarkets £20-£30 buys a rubbish pair of headphones. These cost over £100 new and you can tell. Even the box looks well made.

I have tried Grado, B+W P5, Bose Quiet comfort and these for the money are a steel!

I forgot to mention, they isolate noise quite well (the leather pads are similar to the Bose, possibly using memory foam).

Buy!!

I purchased these when they were 31.99 at Argos. I've bought them for the for the PlayStation VR as a lot of the demo's on Youtube are using them. They sound amazing! I have played them for the last month every day for about 3 hours a day so I am sure they are "burnt in" I play a lot of FLAC music. Though I don't really get the whole loseless thing nor hear it, they make my heart pump with every song. I am real excited for the PS VR when I can combine them. Don't hesitate to buy these, especially at this price.

Update: Just tested the headphones out on the PSVR dev kit at work and they sound Awesome! Only had The Deep but still amazing sound!

Nice headphones - well built and sound good. I have had them for a while and one thing to note is that they sit on my head quite loosely. The head band portion of the headphones are covered in a soft, slippery material which means it easily slides forward on your head. The headphones don't 'clamp' around your head that tightly either. My sister who tried them complained they were unusable since they kept slipping off her head.

Just bought a pair, incredible sound, the only possible problem is that they are a bit loose. For me that's no issue, need them a bit loose as otherwise they hurt my ears when i wear my glasses. Sound wise, they are top top quality. If you aren't going running, get a pair.

Have both. Comparing the two the AKG sound muddy. Far prefer the Sony's sound, it's crisper and more 'open'. Bass is cleaner.
They sound better to put it bluntly.

Cheers. I noticed as well that the isolation from outside noise is equivalent to my Audio Technica over ears. Probably because the cushions are so soft and seal well on my ears. The difference is these don't put as much pressure on your head and don't leave your ears so hot.

I'm not saying throw out your audio monitoring headphones and get these but if you want comfy small lightweight headphones for general music listening, gaming or movies you can't really go wrong.

Never really understand why people would run in over the ear headphones. Pretty much guarantees that you'll be oblivious to what is going on around/behind you.
In ear headphones surely make more sense. Run with one in, and keep the other ear focussed on what's going on around.

(I also don't understand why people cycle with over the ear headphones (and no helmet). It's just really stupid. No awareness about emergency service vehicles - or any other threats for that matter.

Got some yesterday and after several hours of listening to Punk/Rock/and reggae music I have to say they ain't bad folks...forget the £150 rrp tho.
I was surprised at the depth of bass these phones have and the treble is sweet if a little restricted...like others have said on here with a bit of tweaking you can get good results....just give them ample time to bed/run them in and the benefits will be heard....straight out of the box and they sound tinny and muddled....but once run in they justify their price of £25.99....which is exactly what they are worth....not £150 lol

Please show me where Argos list the RRP as being £150...

(The only person listing the RRP at £150 is the OP - who seems to have been pretty successful in making a hot deal out of something that isn't particularly hot)

In defence of op ...I guess op got the price from the review on expertreviews (Feb 2014 tho) - http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/tvs-entertainment/headphones/53244/sony-mdr-10rc-review/page/0/1

Decided to get these today in the interim until I replace my dearly departed Beyer Dynamic DT990 Pro... (20 years they lasted!)

Not finding the fit particularly loose unlike others, but I do have a big head.

Just trying them on the phone so far.. given the impedence I expect better results via the headphone preamp ..

Definite mid-lows bump resulting in a warm, comforting balance. The treble is there and it's really smooth n tight - especially upper mids.. just appears recessed due to the contouring. No deep lows, but per documentation these have acoustic bass porting to provide a sense of deep bass. Really a shadow extension of the mid lows - so, indistinct on things like bass drums - the electronic variety resembling big fluffy clouds.. (if the ports can be muted somehow eg with acoustic wadding that may tighten up the bass nicely) BUT!.. there is something really nice going on with the clarity and dynamics in the upper mids and lower highs casting a clear edge to sounds.. giving a physical presense to sounds, imparting plenty of texture, and spatiality/atmospheric qualities, with smooth refined detail thats tight andd understated *... the soft bass then seems to add to the experience.. The overall character reminds me of Naim gear for some reason. I'm impressed + enjoying the music

They're not neutral enough to be considered an 'audiophile' headphone.. but they deliver an immersive experience bargain for £26

* The way they are marketing this 'hi-res' stuff is BS !!! BUT it's likely that by designing a driver that is relatively flat to 40Khz, you're naturally going to achieve better linearities and sweetness in the audible range, as your moving the design edge out of the audible range...

On the Sony website they're currently £99, and have been sold at £150 previously...

Yes, but where is it listed for £150 on the Argos website? (I am specifically replying to the other commenter who are moaning about Argos having an RRP of £150...when they clearly don't advertise it as ever having been £150!)

if I bought these from Argos and found they slipped, would Argos give me a refund if I return them?

Not if they slipped into say a jar of treacle.

Otherwise, keep your receipt you should be OK!

Vewed ops post at 6PM, reviewed online, ordered at Argos via quidco, order confirmation received within seconds, raced on my motorbike to Argos Romford, collected, raced home, unpacked and listening to Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond by 6:40PM. Job done....sweating like a maniac!
