I used Velcro to put a 40inch tv on the bedroom ceiling above the bed on the wife's side but unfortunately its holding despite jumping around in the attic at 1am.

Why would you buy an expensive television and then try and stick it up on the wall for a quid?!

People who wall mount TVs in 2016 don't own expensive ones...it's just Polaroid and Blaupunkt (and the likes) owners that still think it's a good look.

Good question though as this is for a 27" TV it's largely irrelevant as sub 27" TVs aren't expensive (nor are they heavy enough to pose any pressure on a plastic bracket). :stuck_out_tongue:

What kind of Idiot would trust a 27inch TV (approx £300) to a £1 TV mount....?

£300 for a 27 inch TV? When was that, 1995? I bought a 42 inch Samsung smart tv for £300 nearly 2 years ago! I wouldn't mount it on a £1 bracket though ...

I've seen an 8'x4' sheet of plasterboard hanging on a wall by one screw. A 27" TV won't trouble this mount.

probably the same reason you buy a £600 phone and buy a £1 glass screen protector or a 99p bumper hoping that your bargain purchase will be sufficient.
5lugger to caverncity
16 Jun 16#26
Surely it that instance the value of the screen protector is governed by the components used in the construction? Glass being glass at that size is likely to be inexpensive. To guarantee the screen won't break would either require a much thicker, and there less practical cover. The gamble might be how clumsy or unlucky you are, where as a plastic wall mount.....

there is no reason why this would be a risk, an average 27" led tv without a stand is approx 4 kilos. the bracket is attached to a plasterboard wall using cavity wall anchors then the other part of the bracket bolted onto the tv, then the tv is placed onto the wall part. it's a flush bracket no moving parts and again it's British made so no cheap Chinese made tat. just because it's in the poundshop doesn't mean it's crap, just look at the Belkin stuff etc. this might have been destined for another major outlet not the poundshop.

Bought one of these a couple of days ago, can't argue for the price.
Ok I'm only going to trust it with my 17" PC monitor, but for a nice flush/low profile mount it looks good enough.
Yep I probably wouldn't trust a 27" TV on it ether but for budget/low weight screens its worth a try.
And if you still don't trust it, its got to be worth £1 for the bag of fixings including wall plugs and screws that come with it

Guess I'd best remove ours off the wall too and could then use the OH as a stand...be ideal as it'll be fully portable and saves me having to get up off my backside and pull the curtain across when the sun reflects off the screen...will just get the OH to move a couple of feet with the TV instead...totally sorted don't know why I didn't think of it years ago

Well that's quite a general statement, my monitor cost way more than that and has the features to boot. Sometimes you get what you pay for, although I do appreciate that many on this website (not all) don't quite get that.
