On the nose it is fragrant with citrus (orange peel), flowers (freesia), spice, and a hint of cream-filled choux pastry. Water pulls out more of the weighty malty notes. The palate is a mid-weight in a malt that's softer than the nose initially suggests. Great momentum in the mouth with cranachan, soft baked fruits, fruit cake, syrup, apricot and malt. It dances on the tongue with a finish that bursts into life.

2015 Silver Outstanding Medal Winner - International Wine & Spirits Competition
IWSC Awards Tasting Note: Well contained nose opens with some ripe orange with a hint of peat in the distance. Sultanas and dried apricot are there with some hints of cocoa. Full in the mouth where rich malt makes a statement. Well integrated oak. Another whisp of smoke in long finish.

Strathisla was the first bottle of whisky I ever bought. Back when the bottles looked like this. It's one of the constituents of Chivas Regal. A good whisky at say £30 so at £22.48, I'm sold!
Edit: damnit and borrocks and ruggery - must remember to buy then post on a lightning deal, not the other way around!!

Make sure you mix your Johnny Walker with some cola.
Strathisla is a fantastic whisky. Half way through a bottle just now.

What a load of arrogant, pretentious twaddle - almost certainly from a "twenty-something" Oxbridge gerbil with his/her head up their own posterior.

They've got to sell it somehow - to those who haven't tried it.
My suggestion: go to a good whisky bar, try a few, find your favourites (as with food it's a personal preference and it doesn't really matter what other people say) then go with it.
I did something similar in Scotland when I was there for work, and that's how I discovered a love of Strathisla and Oban, which I added to my list which already included the ubiquitous Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, etc.
Johnny Walker, in comparison, is poison. Most whisky drinkers will agree, but hey if that's what you like go for it.
