I got this when it was free for a short time on the Amazon app years ago. It is really cool. However I rarely remember to use it when I sleep. 50p is a bargain, I am thinking to buy it again on Play store in order to stop using the Amazon store.

Optimum time? Sounds like I've got the morning off work tomorrow :stuck_out_tongue:

How's it know when you've fallen asleep to know what your sleep cycle is?

That's the flaw with it - you have to tell it when you're sleeping, even with an Android Wear watch.

It detects sleep modes by measuring how often you move during the night. There is less movement in the deep phases of sleep than in the lighter phases. Anything that isn't attached to your brain won't be able to detect sleep phases any more accurately, unfortunately. I had high hopes for the UP3 and its bioimpedance, but reviews say it hasn't really lived up to expectations.
Anyway. At 50p this is steal, considering I bought this for a few pounds a few years back. The only reason I stopped using the sleep tracking was due to battery drain on my Nexus 4. Hopefully it doesn't use up too much battery on my new phone.

Imagine waking (if your lucky) with the charge cable round your neck .. wondor if would optimize that?

It take a little while to find the sweet spot, which is slightly different for everyone. I'd suggest for you keep trying the sleep cycles, if not the tracking.
The phone needs to be left on the bed. If you have a smart watch with the app installed on it, you might be able to leave it on your bedside and use the watch for tracking, but I've never looked into that so I can't say for certain.
I always get up to switch off the CAPTCHA, but I don't always stay up after that. But that's more to do with me being tired (and undisciplined) than the app itself. For 50p, I'd recommend just buying the app and checking to see how the CAPTCHAs are for yourself, could always return if you don't like it. It has a very hard mode, and coupled with the maths calculations, that may be hard to switch off.
This one has up to a 2 hour window for smart waking.

Do you need the phone on your bed for it to work or can you leave it on a bedside cabinet?

Nice idea, but more than likely if you turn allot in bed or move you pillow you will knock the phone off the be.
My old Samsung Gear 2 with the SHEALTH APP worked great for this, but then SamDUNG got ride of it in the new watch.

Best alarm app in my opinion. Works with my pebble smart watch too.
I've already got the premium version via Amazon Apps, but bought this to support the developers, and to be honest it's easier to use the Google Play store.

Other apps have a half-hour window in which to wake you up gently and it doesn't always work - what's the window on this?

It has "Smart Period" between 5mins and 2 hours

This app is brill when used with a Pebble watch. I've been using it for a couple of years now. I feel much better for using it as it listens for snoring and vibrates my watch to make me change position when I start snoring.
It also has this great wake-up feature when used with my pebble watch, that improves the way I feel when I get up. It tries to wake you when you're in the right sleep-mode i.e. Light sleep. You want to get up say at 6.30am and you give the app a window of 30mins or more before and it will wake you up between 6:00-6:30pm if you're in the right sleep mode. If there is no opportunity to wake you up in the right sleep mode, it will wake you at 6.30 anyway.
I don't know whether it's any good without a pebble watch, but if you have one then this is a great app for it.
Pairing with a Pebble watch also means you don't have to have the phone on the bed.

Glad to see that it works so well with the Pebble. I'm pretty sure I'll pick up a Pebble Time 2, so should definitely get this app now while it's cheap.
