I have one of these nearly £200 year or so ago. Brilliant product beats any dyson no problem. Had a few issues with things braking contact shark and they just replaced with a new one great c/service

Just picked one up and its great especially for that money, very impressed.

Just so everybody knows this one still lifts away using the blue button down the side but it's not clearly advertised as such .

The 680 is amazing, goes right under the furniture and has adjustable suction but for £79.99 this is exceptional value. And yes it's shocking how much more a Shark picks up!

I had one of these demonstrated to me last weekend. It was ok but they need to go a bit further with the design. It's a bit fiddly with all the detaching and re attaching. What they should do is have a combination of having an upright and a cylinder. Best if both worlds. It's nearly there but not quite. I have reserved one and given heat because it's definitely a hot deal at this money.

I was in Currys last Sunday and the Shark rep was demonstrating the hoovers and I mentioned to her about having an upright / cylinder combined. She might have showed me that one but the design wasn't right as the hose was too short. I will have a look tomorrow when I collect the 480. I didn't take too much notice tbh as it was hot and their aircon wasn't working !!I tried the HV320 as I thought that would be good for the car but it was rubbish as the suction was poor in my opinion. I will see tomorrow what the 480 is like as none of the adverts says it is a lift away model which is surprising when the ads for the others do state lift away. My only concern is it only has a B for performance where our Vax has an A.

That's the old heavier, shorter lead and lower performance model, but still good price if it was available.

Thanks for the info. You should be working for shark haha. Whilst I accept the motorised brush on the HV320 assists the dust collection this is fine for flat surfaces such as the car seat bases and backs but there are just too many nooks and crannies on a car for that to be effective. I tend to use the crevice tool and just the hose and brush attachment for the car so as a dual purpose hoover it's no good for me. Our current Vax is the same. It has very good suction for carpets but hasn't got enough suction power with just the long hose. Not as efficient as our old Dyson for that purpose and is just hard work. It is each to their own and I was impressed by the other sharks demonstrated to me last weekend which didn't include the one you have posted. I have reserved one and thank you for posting as at this price I think it is too good to miss.

Must admit I dont find this fiddly at all. The lift off button is low down but not a real issue to be fair. The hose clips off easy and has a decent reach, cable is just about long enough and it is easy to turn brush on and off. I dont thing the 680 would make a massive difference to me as we have no furniture it could fit under.

The performance on this is amazing. I have cleaned my bedroom carpet 3 times now and each time it has got loads out. Makes me feel dirty to think how much the old vax left behind.

This is a bargain. Just goes to show how much marketing can do to sell vacuums as dyson are just like iphones and people think they must be the best because the advert says so and it is expensive.

Just picked mine up today. Minor criticisms. It could do with a little longer lead. Wouldn't reach from my hallway to the rear corner of my living room without strangling the wife on the settee. Could be handy at times lol. The lead is also the awful rigid type which you wouldn't normally find on a vacuum cleaner. The lift away part of the Hoover should really have a flat bottom as it won't stand up properly. Saying that these are only minor issues. The main priority of a vacuum cleaner is does it suck.....yes and very well. I have a DysonDC07 and a Vax air reach. Both good Hoovers but today using the shark today our carpets look like they have been hoovered. It is hard going though on thick pile carpets as is the Vax. There only appears to be DYSON who have that sussed with an upright but look at the cost and the Shark is better, just harder going.

There are pros and cons for all products but at £79.99 the Shark is well worth the money and extremely glad I bought it. Sold out now in my local Curry's. Thanks for posting.

All of your criticisms are addressed in the other models such as the NV340 and NV680 which have longer more flexible leads, flat lift off bases and adjustable suction for thick pile carpets. But yes this model at this price is truly brilliant!

Good to see the improvements. They were only minor points although some make a big deal of them. It really is a decent product for the money and nice to see that other manufacturers can now use cyclone features in their products now a certain inventor probably has made more millions than many of us would spend in a lifetime. I am going to have to get rid of one of my Hoovers now but which one shall it be. The heavy DYSON which will stand the test of time and is also a good car hoover or the lightweight Vax with its fiddly hose system. Tough choice as I bought the Vax just to leave upstairs as the DYSON is so flipping heavy.

Some left at Birstall by IKEA if anybody's interested!

Just checked shark website and its deffo same spec but with pet brush so better value and a bargain at 69 if you have stock local to you. I would have little use for extra tool though would be useful for car as I vac that every few years!

Looks like Dunelm are trying to compete with their model, another great price but of course fewer stores and less availability. Great if you can get one!

Mine gets vac'd about 3 times a year but the little pet brush is ideal for stairs. Unless of course you live in a flat or a bungalow then it will be no use whatsoever. They got stock at my local Dunelm so may take mine back to Currys. I will give Shark a ring tomorrow and find out if there is any other difference. I know Vax do the same with the same model by just adding an extra tool. One thing the one at Dunelm has got also is the flexible crevice tool. Now that's real handy for retrieving Mcdonalds chips from the side of the seat. All in all a good and better deal than this one. If anyone posts don't forget to thank me.

Currys won't accept a return if you've used it, so I'd try confirm there are no other differences first and see if anything can be done about the tools

It has the flexi crevice tool (£4.99) and the pet hair turbo brush (£19.99) which I was going to buy as they are really handy for the stairs. I reserved the Dunelm one and my dad has offered to buy the other one so happy days. When I saw him today I told him what I had bought and he said he could do with a new hoover.

Argos are selling one too which also appears to be the same model number with even more tools. However, it would appear to be out of stock which is no surprise at this price. Dunelm too will be out of stock as are Currys in my home town. They are all good deals, yes some better than others but my Vax cost £99.99 with all tools and the Shark is better for around the same cost or less. Represents good value for money.

Do you know if they all have a five year warranty? I was looking at the one from Dunelm, but unlike Currys, it doesn't mention the warranty

Took mine round to my dad's today. Whilst I found the going slightly tough on our living room thick pile carpet I thought this would be a breeze on my dad's Axminster or Wilton traditional shallow pile carpet. It felt like someone had stuck it to the carpet. It was very heavy going and by the time I had done his small living room and dining room I was sweating!!

Shark need to get some elderly people to research and develop their Hoovers because I struggled and my dad who is in his eighties would not have been able to use it. Luckily he can't use any sort of hoover but the suction was just toooooooo much. It was great though in his kitchen which has carpet tiles. You should have seen the muck it had sucked up though. The Shark has excellent suction but it needs a motor on the wheels to aid pushing it because today I struggled and if I had the same carpets as my dad it would have been going back, used or not.

Just to add I am extremely happy with the hoover. My only point is that it can be very hard going on some surfaces and is definitely not for the weak or infirm. If I did my dad's house every week I would have no need to go to the gym!! The price has no real bearing as it was previously priced at £229.99 which is actually within the same price as the higher spec model you describe. It is also getting into Dyson territory or past it at that price. As we both know it is not worth that sort of money and Shark like Vax play about with their prices and they eventually come down to where they should be or even a little cheaper to clear older or discontinued stock. What did surprise me on the Shark is I turned the brush off and it made it worse and it just wouldn't move which is opposite to my Vax. This just shows the power of the suction which is what I wanted mainly for the car. Vax is rubbish for the car as it doesn't have very good suction at all as it relies on the motorised brush to vacuum the dust etc. My comments are not meant to be negative, just truthful. The suction power is amazing but some will find it difficult and should look at something else as a demonstration in a Currys showroom does not give a true reflection of the push-ability of the cleaner. I thank you again for posting and I would buy the product again.

I picked one up from Dunelm for £69.99.

On opening I was shocked and disgusted to find it was actually used and full of the previous owners filth.
Will be having words with Dunelm customer services tomorrow as im pretty sure its illegal to pass of used/soiled good as factory new.

Appalling. Thats certainly illegal Jarrvo. Besides a refund/exchange you should also seek to be compensated.
