Had this for well under a year and it been knackered for some time leaking water out everywhere, and the noise it makes while boiling (slowly) is horrendous , ive just invested in a Tesco one instead (only 12.50, and its got a blue light lol) even though russell hobs were there at 1/2 price i think (slightly different model to this).

Had morphy richards before that was a lot better but only lasted about 2 years , its not like im a professional tea brewer or anything only a couple boils a day.

The must try hard to make them this crap, nothing lasts anymore, designed to break i think

My advice is don't buy russell hobs crap, and especially not this pos kettle :sunglasses: ,cold af wouldn't buy it for 2.50.

My Russell Hobbs kettle has lasted 3 years so far!!

We're on our third Russell Hobbs Windsor kettle in under 5 months. The windsor is virtually the same as this with a bit of extra chrome and a blue led in the switch (currently £20 at currys) . I chose that model because it looked like it had a stronger switch than our previous model. The switches failed on the first two - there is a thin sliver of plastic that holds them up. There was also a minor issue with the catch in the lid furring up so that they would pop open.

Our previous two kettles were a Russell Hobbs Hampshire, which lasted 1 year, and an identical model save for a satin finish, which lasted 1 month. The switch broke completely off on both of those, I knocked the first one on the side of the sink, so assumed it was my fault and as it was otherwise a very good kettle, I bought the same which failed in a month despite being very careful and gentle with the switch.

Usually my kettles last until they develop a bad leak, or the element burns out, I can only recall having one other where a plastic part of the switch has broken off, so I suspect the current russell hobbs switch designs are bit too flimsy.

If you buy a painted kettle, I'd strongly recommend the cream one, as the colour conceals the limescale marks. I prefer a brushed satin finish over polished stainless steel for the same reason.

I got the full set in black, kettle, toaster and microwave. very happy with them.

Dreadful. About to return ours. The water filter snapped off within a week ( its a flimsey plastic thing). If I can't return it, maybe somebody wantsal a free kettle :smiley:

Russell-Hobbs toaster from Aldi, it only lasted two weeks, it blew up all my fuses at home. Rubbish brand.

got one of these a couple of weeks ago, all the black ones were gone.

Works great, not as fast as my previous kettle (which broke and was returned to argos)
