Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been officially announced by Bethesda, and I'm more than happy and can't wait to get back into it.
I'm taking one for the team. But this is definitely in my price range, granted that lower would be better.
Winner of more than 200 Game of the Year Awards, Skyrim Special Edition brings the epic fantasy to life in stunning detail. The Special Edition includes the critically acclaimed game and add-ons with all-new features like remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflections, and more. Skyrim Special Edition also brings the full power of PC mods to consoles. New quests, environments, characters, dialogue, armor, weapons and more - with Mods, there are no limits to what you can experience.
According to Base.com and Shopto the standard price is £39.85(99)
EDIT: Credit to lyricalrom, Simply Games have now listed it at £32.85!

1) Nobody is forcing you to buy them (though people clearly do, in massive quantities, otherwise the trend would die off).
2) Generally speaking, well-loved games are remastered for people who never had a chance to play them on their original platforms. They're not remastering bad games (mostly) - I'd take a remaster of a good game over a mediocre new IP any day.
3) The entire game industry is about making money from us! Developers/publishers/retailers aren't doing all this out of the kindness of their stone cold capitalist hearts!
4) Some of the finest games I've played recently have been remasters: Gravity Rush (which many people would never have played without it because, sadly, hardly anyone has a Vita), Resident Evil, The Last of Us, Valkyria Chronicles, DmC, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin.
5) Remasters are often the cheapest way of buying games with all their added content and fix problems which may have plagued the original without remedy (again, DmC is a good example of that).
I really don't know why people get so upset about it.

Although a remaster isn't usually my thing, I haven't competed skyrim, or even got close, because my PS3 gave up the ghost 100 hrs in. When I got my new one I started again but I was so gutted I just didn't get into it again. The opportunity now to play a remastered edition with all addons sounds amazing and I will pay for the privilege.

Coupling all the hardware into one including accessories and controller for $399 at launch Sony actually was making a tiny loss each console sold at launch but said if a PS4 is sold with a game then that was just enough for a profit. The consoles were manufactured early 2013 and was the best available they can get under that price and AMD didn't have good CPU's back then, next year AMD is releasing the new Zen CPU's which is just want everyone needed since its far better than their old technology on the CPU. The GPU, RAM was OK for PS4 at launch in 2013 the CPU that's the best available to keep the PS4 $399 including accessories and expensive controller.
I see you always crying in threads underpowered blah blah this and that, it's very clear you don't like consoles judging from many comments why don't you just go game on your pc and if you don't have one go get one no ones stopping you

I struggle to imagine how much weaker PS4 and Xbox One would have been releasing at 2010 or 2011 as they are already underpowered hardware when they released powered with mobile technology!
Robinsad
14 Jun 16#63
what utter nonsense. if the new consoles were released earlier they would have been less powerful. plus remasters give smaller developers the chance to make a bit of money from a larger publisher which they can then invest in their own ip. so good for the industry.
darkspace100
14 Jun 16#62
All these remasters are completely Sony and MS's fault for making last gen so long. All these "remasters" should have been native games in the first place as PS4 and Xbox One should have released in 2010 or 2011 instead they wanted to milk those ancient consoles for all their worth. Just goes to show how gullible gamers are though. Call it a remaster and they go crazy but if it wasn't marketed as a remaster no one would care.

I know they are beautifying it but the bigger question for me would be: are they going to fix all the remaining bugs? Check what the Unofficial patches cope with on the PC...
you fool, the PC is getting EXACTLY the same version as xbox and ps4. My point is, the PC version is free if you already own it. Yet PS4 / XBOXONE owners have to pay again, and double dip. There is not disputing that fact!

I bought the base game and all the DLC on PC for £4.99. I'll still be buying it on Xbox One. At least I wont have to spend hours mucking around with glitchy mods to bring the graphics up to HD standard. It looks pretty good, out of the box, on PS4 and Xbox One to me.

I've used Simply Games, in fact whenever I pre-order a game I used them because they always stretch the interpretation of release date the most and it means I get the game 2 or 3 days early, and if the game is released on a Tuesday I get it on the Friday or Saturday so get the whole weekend beforehand. I've never had an issue with them so never had to deal with their customer service but for me they have been excellent. Sucks your order never turned up but items get lost occasionally in the mail, I don't think they are being dishonest but clearly they could handle your complaint better.

Oblivion would have been a much bigger development task. They openly admitted last year that they ported this game to the Xbox One and then used that as the basis for developing Fallout 4. I had a feeling that they would release it sooner or later tbh although originally they said it was strictly just a development tool.

Becareful of ordering from Simply Games, it seems all there games seem to be offered at this exact odd about i mean why £32 & 85p lol
Anyways i pre ordered Doom for ps4 for release day. Paid up and after 3 weeks of hassle i finally got my money back thanks to paypal. no apology or nothing on there part.
Still to this day no game has arrived despite them saying they did send it the day before release. When i asked also why the game kept going out of stick on the site . " oh its common in retail " hmm i don't see many games on other sites going out of stick several times in a day. lol
The customer service is garbage and all you get from them is it if its late send it back and if you complain as far as they are concerned the case is closed wait 10 workings days before going to paypal.
If you get your game your lucky but just shop else where as this £32.85 just seem like a ploy to get your money. probably so they can buy there stock of which they don't have enough to sell.

Very torn on this! And the Batman Remasters. On one hand, can I be bothered to replay hundreds of hours of the same game, but on the other the fact that they will all (Skyrim in particular) look beautiful remastered!
I agree with other posters they should be £25. A treat for those who haven't played them yet though!

no one is forcing you to buy a remaster but there should be a way to continue from your 360/ps3 save as it pretty much confirms it won't be BC, and I have unfinished business with it.
guess I'm going to have to set up my 360 and play it on that... even tho it sounds like a hairdryer!
never played all the expansion's for this when it was on ps3, so 100+ gaming hours for £34 is a bargain. plus mod support from Bethesda on consoles is gonna give this a massive following

my favourite game of all time. I would pay hundreds for it the amount of entertainment I have had from it. played it for a year on 360 then bought a pc so I could mod the hell out of it... 238 hours in and I have only just met paarthanax! I keep getting sidetracked by picking flowers and maxing out my smithing. to me this game is flawless...

Seems a little bit steep for a game that is nearly 5 years old. Don't get me wrong I have no issues with remasters. But they should cost no more than £30 imo. Look at Dead Island sure there not the best games. But they did a decent job at remastering both games. Plus both for £25 or less.
