I don't know if it's the same with all electric toothbrushes but all 3 of the oralB brushes I've had have become useless after a year or so. My one now was about £50 which was a good deal at the time. It is powerful for like two brushes, then feels like it needs charging again!
Are the Phillips Sonicare brushes better?

I would check how long your guarantee is and contact them, as I wouldn't like to spend £50 and a year later it's packing up on you. I've had my Oral B electric toothbrush for over 8 years, it's only now that it's started to need charging after a couple of days, so I don't expect it to last much longer.

You can replace the rechargeable battery in Oral B toothbrushes without too much trouble. There are plenty of videos on the subject and batteries easily available - just google it.
