Am confused - want to buy lens with Nikon warranty, NOT a grey import. Which one should I be buying? Thanks

Excellent lens. Bought 2 years ago £108.95. Never had any issues with it and registered for the 2 year warranty with Nikon fine.

I have the 70-200 and its awesome.. 55-200 is even better for the same price on this deal! Don't hesitate seriously! :smile:

basically if your sensor is 2cm across and you photograph something which is 2cm and it fills the whole screen then its 'true macro' and 1:1
if it is only filling half the screen and you edit the photo by chopping off the empty edges then its a pretend 1:1 so not 'true macro' but its good enough for most of us :laughing:

I still don't understand Macro or 1:1 :laughing:!

tbf you are still going to be about a metre away so for 'macro' that is a distance :stuck_out_tongue:

It works great for both in all honesty. I am as you mentioned also no expert but learning with each set of photo's I take in RAW and editing.

I was under the impression for a few weeks that the 55-200 was only for distance shots until I came across the above.

I rarely use the 18-55 now

I assume he means the zoom bringing objects closer.

Bought this (and posted it previously) at around the £94 mark via Amazon. Ended up finding a 55-300mm shortly afterwards for about £130 (can't remember specific amount) and so sent this back and punted for the bigger one instead.

As a side note, I don't think grey imports are an issue either. My camera and possibly my 300mm lens are both imports, never had issues with either.

Anyone know where I can get a cheap prime lens. 50mm 1.8?

£107.49 now showing for prime - was looking for a long lens last year and can confirm the previous price, (ended up buying the previous model) will be seriously miffed if it goes below 100 notes!

Plenty of others cheaper by £20 and fulfilled by Amazon...

i think at this low price point grey doesnt matter so much?
or maybe it matters more for the expensive ones as you save more?
