You've not been short changed at all. It's common sense to group similar-priced items together in the same transaction as the cheapest is free which is what happened to you. Argos also do the same so group the same prices together, it's not rocket science!

I think its fairly standard when BOGOFs cover a range of items that its the cheapest stuff that becomes the freebie
