They may not be great speedwise, but the form factor is excellent. I've got half a dozen of these with different boot systems and utilities on them, and they take up almost no space. Easy to carry in a wallet.

Heat.... These are great for carrying a few files and music/movies because of the metal loop.... You'll never lose it.
Most USB drives have a carrying loop on the lid (totally useless because you end up losing the drive but end up with a nice collection of lids).

You can get the USB 3 newer model for a pound more.

I think you should really state USB 2 or 3 drive in the title to clarify it is only USB, great find still Kudos, excellent for having some hard wearing pen drives for OS images and bootable recovery pen drives as not too worried about speed if you comapre that to doing a DVD install.

Deadly slow but exceptionally robust - possibly too robust as an accidental heavy knock in situ may destroy an expensive USB port rather than damage a cheap flash drive.

Might appear robust but wasn't very reliable. Hasn't completely failed but quite temperamental. Mine was the gold coloured one, imagine they're the same model. Shame as it was otherwise perfect.

Why? Most USB3 sticks don't even max out the USB 2 speed.
Had one of these (SE9 16Gb) on my keyring for ages (just checked, OMG - is since May 2012 and was £7.90 at Mymemory.co.uk) and extremely robust and still works but transfer speed is very slow indeed. Still, perfect for me, hopefully I'll get another year or 2-3 out of this one.

They changed the quality of these a while ago without telling anyone, now they are made of thinner poorer quality metal. I have older and newer ones and the new ones are terrible. Plus USB 2.0 is really no longer acceptable in this day and age.

USB 2 / 3 is only an interface, USB3 will not give any advantage when connecting a slow flash drive

^^ true comment, but why buy a USB2 drive?!
Time = Money. Get a decent USB3. If your PC doesn't have USB3, get it.

OP .. or £5.09 for 32GB of the Retail Packaged version of the same here:
I usually prefer Retail versions of things, UNLESS the new non-Retail Packaged version of 'X' is significantly CHEAPER than the Retail Packaged version of the same equivalent!.
But in this case the Retail Packaged version is significantly cheaper than the alternative, etc?, but .....
But that's just me. :-)

As others have said, yes, they are slow (yawn) but they are so well-built they can go on the keys and then forget about it, which is great when you are rummaging for a memory stick and can't find one. Slow but so convenient it makes up for it. The metal loop cannot break off, unlike other manufacturers who have nicely designed sticks with a weedy keyloop hole that's guaranteed to break off.

i had one of these. the usb chip has fallen out of the metal casing so not very well made for use as a keyring usb

Had the 64GB model for ages now, has been attached to my key ring since the day of delivery. It spends hours each dayin my pocket, being generally mistreated and hasn't failed me at all. The speed is appalling, the quality is top notch though.

Yeah, Id have to agree. I have the 32gb version attached to my keys since I got it near 4 years ago. Keys get thrown around all over the place and the usb is still working. Gonna buy a few just for boot drives.

I've never cared about the speed on these things as I've never needed to shift any large files urgently on them but they are by far the best designed USB stick I've ever owned. No ridiculous caps to lose, no crap quality keyring that'll give way eventually, and built like a tank.

I think you mean "Does anybody know how to read data from dead usb pen drive?".
No easy way. You would need to get an expert to remove the flash chips if they are still good. Not worth it unless you have something worth £100s of pounds to you on it.

They may be a tad slow at read and write data wise but they are totally handy to have on a key ring and very hard wearing compared with the plastic drives. They also make good and durable installation drives for the likes of windows 10.

Got two of these on my keyring, never had any problems with it. In fact far outlasted other usb sticks I've had before as the metal casing is solid, no danger of it coming off the keyring.
As for speed, I only transfer some files around on this, not as though it's used as a NAS server.
Bargain .

It's a good metal casing, but the usb drive inside is one of the worst on the market.
You'll be waiting 20 minutes instead of 1-2 if transferring much data.
