Chairs look for indoor use but the table looks like something for outdoors.

They have the table on its own for £89, which I would go for and leave the chairs

Haha what a pointedly rude comment. It's actually very hard to find a table that can fit a lot of kids with a bench. There's 10 in our family so with guests or friends is even more. Standard tables, don't work with benches well and a round table would be to wide. This is solid wood not mdf, and very sturdy. You'll be amazed how expensive it looks with a Cath kidston or Liberty tablecloth  we have specific need and this was brilliant, my budget was a lot more but I couldn't find anything else remotely suitable and I'm sure you'll be horrified to know we gave our £500 oak table to my mum in favour of this gcse table.... It's good value for anyone who might want it so it is a good deal and your comment is kind of rude.

I wonder when, or if, it was last on sale and for how long at the 'was' price of £329.99? "Please note item 3403312 has previously been on sale at £149.99".

Why?
It's a non-veneer table with 6 chairs for £137. Who cares if its got an Oak finish? It's just a colour.

"... the leather upholstery..."
"...PVC seat pads and back rest..."
How do they get away with it? Truth is I don't think the Argos writers are dishonest - just incompetent! Will be interesting to see whether Sainsbury's raises their game or gets pulled down to Argos' level.

I got this table 3 months ago. I use it with a bench on one side and kids chairs the other. I have a large family and we love this table, however as the 2 reviews say, it is raw when it arrives and would stain easily. We have put 3 thin layers (water based and watered down) of clear varnish and this has worked well. We've had 12 people seated easily and consider it value for money. I bought my table on its own though and not keen on the chairs advertised with it, they look different and not the same kind of furniture. When we bought ours there was a cross leg bench you could get. Oh and I paid £112 for just the table and am still delighted!
