Would this to give me a better picture in single definition than my 4 year old Samsung PS51D8000 plasma. Looking to upgrade my picture quality but don't want to pay for OLED. And don't want to pay for HD package

Any reason your looking to replace your plasma with a 4K TV? As you don't want to "pay for HD", and you probably won't to pay for 4K. As it is plasma TV were always renowned for having the best standard definition picture quality after CRT. LCD/LED TVs were never that good, and from what's been said most cheaper 4K TVs scale standard definition worse than LCD/LED TVs.
So it's safe to say, stick to what you have already.
It's worth checking out the AVFORUMS website for good technical advise.

Is the trade in limited?
Could someone potentially give a small CRT and get £25?

I always though a 4K set will make SD look worse than the same image on a standard HD set.
any good for gaming? I hate screen lag and my mates Samsung 4k is really bad for it!

Anyone know more about this brand or owned any TVs / appliances from them before? I'm seeing them more and more... wondering if its a rebrand or contains parts from other well-known manufacturers?

Keep your plasma mate, standard def tv is actually watchable with plasmas- good at hiding the massive compression. Contrast is probably way better and no motion blur compared to this. If you can wait a year, proper HDR will likely be in this price range and hopefully OLED will be cheaper but not by much I'd imagine.
Rant: Plasma was such a great technology, shame people just wanted their tvs thinner and thinner- plasmas are thin enough- and to be eco-friendly...

I have this TV and it's great value at that price. Blacks are really black (way better than the LG I had before). 4K and HD looks amazing, SD is OK. HD Netflix built in.
There are some issues waiting to be resolved by a firmware upgrade - people have had issues with some 4K sources, generally it works best in Game Mode to minimise picture processing. Sound is great, menu system nice etc. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again. See AV forums for more info.

No they don't, completely different model,. Amazon have a 55 inch model, this is 58.
Also, for question above, let's are 120cm apart and are not moveable.

55 vs 58, is there any real difference in size visually?

I would warn anyone who is considering buying a hisense. I got this 58" 4K 3D model from AO.com a couple of months ago. Without doubt the worse TV I have ever owned and it went back last week. The 3D is shocking, very bad ghosting. The aspect ratio of 2:35:1 movies were wrong when playing media files, it would stretch them to fill the screen and there was no way of changing this, Hisense had a very unhelpful and rude tech guy who just told me "well that's the way it is as its trying to upscale and it's not considered a fault". Lastly it creaked all the time, the entire back of the tv was made of plastic and it was so noisey. I finally managed to send it back for a refund. I opted for a Panasonic Viera 4K curved 3D set which it in a different league.... even the remote controls, Hisense is cheap, light and clicky. Bottom line, you pay cheap, you get cheap. I was prepared to give Hisense a fair crack of the whip and would never ever return. On a plus for Hisense, great 4K quality, not amazing on SD, so so on 1080p but fantastic on 4K, that for me would be the only plus.

I used a 14" crt portable, no remote and faulty. The delivery guy took it and I received my cash back within a few days

No, just saying I couldn't see any 730 models of any size so I think the reference to £500 set at Amazon is wrong.

It's there (K730) but at £725.05 from a third party seller.

So is the local dimming pretty good then? Or does the panel have good contrast alone i.e. a VA panel? If so, an amazing tv for the money.

I'd go for the sony, much better reviews and if you can get it for that price its an absolute steal!

I have a Hisense TV and Washing machine, and both items have been good quality and reliable in the time I have had them. Everyone comments on how clear my hisense 4k 40inch TV is. The washing machine washes well and simple to use. The built in apps on the TV are good, the ones I use mainly are bbc iplayer and youtube, both faultless. The stand legs are not movable on the TV.
As you have this TV, your probaby the best person to ask on how good or bad this TV is since I can't view one on display in any shop. I have been on the fence about getting this TV for a while but I have been holding back to see if the issues people have been will be resolved in firmware updates. Apart from the issues people have been reporting about this, would you recommend it to someone thing of getting one. If you could compare the picture quality of your hisense tv to the picture quality of another 3d 4k tv from a well known brand which tv would it be.

If anyone is interested, I bought this tv a couple of weeks ago and it is very good. However, I have BTtv running throught hdmi and the 4k picture, although stunningly clear is a little bit stuttery. Am hoping a firmware update will sort the problem but who knows.
4k on internal connections like youtube and netflix is truly amazing.
Cheap gamble for4k but all in all a brilliant upgraded hd picture.

I've had the set for about two months and it's great in comparison to anything I've owned before, notably older generation Samsung and LG sets. Don't lose sight of the price, obviously there are better sets out there if you're willing to pay more but this is great for a touch over £500. Sure you have to turn off a lot of the picture processing but I've done that on ll my other sets too. 1080p picture is amazing, 4k better still.
Netflix App is 4K but Youtube is actually only Full HD at the moment (although I didn't realise at first, the picture is that good)
I've not compared this with other 4K sets - it was an impulse purchase last time it was reduced - but I'm satisfied and looking forward to the next firmware update.
3D seems OK, it's active and personally prefer passive, but TBH I'm not watching much 3D content these days. HTH

People have complained of crosstalk with 3D. I've only had a quick look but it looked OK to me. In general terms I would definitely recommend it for a regular TV user like myself, especially at this price.
Other more demanding users may prefer to spend a lot more but for watching Sky HD, a bit of Netflix, some other streaming and a bit of gaming it's a great set.

Is the 3d on the TV any good?
Depite the issue people are reporting about the TV, would you recommend it.
I think the edge is silver all round but it's the back of the TV fully flat and sliver.

I agree with these comments. I purchased one of these TVs and was so disappointed that I didn't keep it either. Countless problems including juddering on 4K playback, no TV guide when using the satellite input, problems with auto volume, stuttering PVR and timeshift record, cheap budget remote, problems with aspect ratios, local dimming was abysmal, very loud creaking constantly from the TV, the ARC didn't work all the time, terrible rude customer services from Hisense (the tech guy you have to deal with is so unhelpful it's unreal - glad to hear I wasn't the only one who felt this - they are totally not interested and tell you to live with the problems) etc. The TV is seriously not fit for purpose and is cheap for a reason. Will never ever buy another Hisense TV given my experiences.
