Genuine question - can someone please explain the point of these, compared to seasoned logs or even Verdo and their equivalents ?

These are always £1 each in home bargains, Not sure im gonna be rushing out in a heat wave to by 12 so that i can save 12p.

What is the approximate kW content of one of these, surely an expensive way to heat your home and pollute your local environment at the same time.

As stated standard price, comparing to Amazon is pointless.

These have been 99p each in home bargains for years and as for the case of 12, it's not a special deal - I always just pick us a box and take them to the till as it's easier!

As to the point of these, some coal, one of these and in 10min you've got a nice fire. Another 10min, break it up (I know it says you're not supposed to) and throw in one of compact wood chip ones (pack of 6 from Home Bargains £?/Verdo?) and fire done. We find they last a lot longer than logs and so work out cheaper.

Also ideal for starting campfires!

We've used these (or similar £1 ones from B&M) in our fire pit in the garden, and the reason we wanted to use then is they claim to be 'smokeless'. They do produce a lot less smoke than charcoal or wood, but aren't smokeless by any means. However, there wasn't the smokey smell in clothes and house as would normally have been with traditional methods, and they do light quick and burn for a couple of hours.

You can't use these to cook with though, as our son found out when he tired to toast a marshmallow over the fire pit with these logs in.. it turned the marshmallow grey with a coating of what looked more like soot, than char.

These logs are fine for quick heat, but what we sometime also do, is light the barbecue with briquettes (via weber chimey starter - amazing), then once we've finished cooking, transfer the briquettes to the fire pit to sit around and toast mallows.

they are actually 99p in B & M parkgate shirley birmingham. So it works out same price

Been buying these for 99p from B&M/Poundstretchers for years, great for our trips to Centerparcs where they charge £10 for 3 (albeit they are slightly larger).
I don't think they give off much heat but they're good for creating atmosphere/a little ambience.

Home Bargains do a pack of 6 and im sure they're about £3
