It's like choosing between two different sides. In Birthright you will be with the family that share the same blood and in Conquest you are with the faction that raised you. I think Birthright is the easier game while Conquest is much harder. They both tell their own stories. And then there is Revelation which is a 3rd version. Only this is an add on from the eShop.

Storywise, in Birthright you play as the "good guys", in Conquest you play as the more morally questionable side. From a gaming perspective Birthright is a relatively easy version of the game system, whereas Conquest is much more challenging - to a degree that if you aren't used to these games you may be put off by it. They both show a different side to the same story, with a 3rd part, which is only available through download or the collector's edition, giving the hidden story of what is really behind the troubles. No matter which one of the two you buy you can buy the other parts as an add-on for a reduced price on the eShop (£18 iir). Or you can just play one and treat it as a stand-alone game if you prefer.

Birthright is the 'easier' goodie path. You can level up outside of the main quest line, money is very easy to accumulate and maps are designed with pretty obvious strategies to follow. The army in this game is influenced by eastern warriors so you have samurai etc and a few guys from conquest.
Conquest is the darker path and harder. Its more in line with the older fire emblem games in that you can only level up during the main quest line/paralogues and money is sparse. The maps are tricky, challenging and the odds are often stacked against you. The units are the traditional knights/mages with a few of the birthright characters.
Honestly i've preferred conquest. Birth right was a breeze on normal and i just didn't engage with the story. Conquests has been more fun in that i really think about moves and cover/ partnering units etc.Story is pretty weak in both thought to be fair, no where nears as good as the GC/Wii Fire Emblems.

Great game and well worth the price. Birthright i recommend getting then picking up conquest as cheaper AOC. Birthright while still can be hard is nothing compared to the hard as nails conquest. Starting with conquest is a way to get put off the game for sure which would be a crying shame.

I would like to also note that in Conquest, you can easily f*ck up your character because missions are limited to the main storyline and prologues (specifically for new characters/children you gain from pairing romantic partners). Birthright offers that AND side missions as well as missions you can pay for with gold which helps you and your allies to level up.

I'm wondering whether they will re-release/have another all-in-one package that has birthright + conquest + revelations and all the DLCs in the future.
Not sure if I should wait out for that or just buy this. Hot deal nonetheless.

From my understanding it seems if we have a physical copy of one of those games, then can get the other two from this deal
