It's called anti money laundering measures. You can't be laundering until you actually take money away so they don't ask for the proof until that point. Could ask you upfront but they know the hassle would put a large proportion off signing up , so only ask when you have motivation to supply.

It will be Cash - it ended before they changed it to free bets (which they kept for the "England to score 5/1" offer)
I called and somehow managed to get them to give me both of their other good offers
5/1 on England to score AND place £5 get £20 back
So I obviously put the £5 on England to score
I've therefor (For my £5 which was minimum deposit anyway) got a bet on England to score at 5/1
So IF they score I get £45 (free bets :disappointed: ) plus my £5 back = £50 (kind of)
IF they don't I've got £20 (she actually added them as 4x £5 free bets)
Happy enough with that - I'll make them pay!!!

I keep seeing different stuff on twitter saying it was a misprint then saying it's cash so not sure if it's cash or free bets

The issue is that they dont implement this rule from the very beginning. They will take your money and give you an account. But then when they have to pay up the winnings they suddenly demand identity. If you cant supply id or just dont want to send such info over email then you dont get your winnings. Not only that but you have to fight tooth and nail just to get your original stake back. They hope many will not even bother.
Its deceptive and sneaky. Dont take peoples money without being upfront about the rules.

IMPORTANT
You should also be aware that Coral has probably silently installed a piece of malware tracking technology on your machines called IE Snare (they just did to me!) It is particularly cunning, as it is slip-streamed onto your computer via Flash - and so won't trigger any malware alerts.
You can confirm if IE Snare is now on your computer by opening up a command prompt (start -> all programs->accessories->command prompt) and then typing..... dir mp*.com /s and pressing enter.
Wait for the search to be complete, and you'll probably find you've been marked (Coral tagged me, so you probably were too)
Follow the removal instructions in the earlier article I linked to, and you can easily remove this nasty.

As it happens you seemingly can withdraw it, but it was a great deal even if it was paid in free bets. It's an outlay of £1 to potentially get 50x that in bets (which would eventually become withdrawable if you won subsequent bets), or 5x that at worst. Providing you know how to gamble responsibly that's a great deal for those looking to do some betting during the Euros.

They should be MADE to implement it from the get-go.
It's the reason I only use my Bet365 account, set it up before the policy came into effect.
Paddy won't let me cash out, Hill have poor odds in comparison.
Ladbrokes have too few markets.
I told Paddy, you were happy to take my money and if I deposit more, you'll take that.
