Not true, when my A6 came to the end of it's 2 year lease I was sent a letter (finance company) offering the oportunity to purchase the vehicle before it went to auction, the option to buy may be lender specific but hey you can always ask.
As for is this a "hot" deal well all I will say is that there is currently a two year old three door 1.4 TFSI SE with less than 20k on the clock on Autotrader retailing at £13.500, so it has depreciated by £9.500 in a two year period (based on the 23k list price someone has stated here) so the very fact that you are paying of only £5.500 to lease the vehicle for the same period does indeed make it a deal.
However the fact that it is base spec and only a three door would put me off, but to each there own.

Is there an option for a one off payment at the end to buy the car? I haven't got a bloody clue about leasing but seems like everyone is doing it lately!

Direct sale to hirer at end of lease is unlikely, however the finance co will normally be open about which auction house the car will be disposed through.

My Audi finance lease deal has an option to purchase at the end. No details of price but in the paperwork it states that I or a family member will have the option to purchase. I won't be as I would get another lease deal

finance will probably be through VW, on my 3 previous cars with them they gave me an option to buy the car. however, it's never a good deal. better off getting another lease imo.
