Tesco Eastgate have 8kg sacks of this high quality rice at only £1 per kilo. I'm not sure if it's national, but I couldn't find it on their website. It's probably only in larger stores with a more diverse ethnic customer base.
Amira rice is my current favourite basmati these days. Number one top is the 'Superior Aromatic' in the in the blue and gold pack, but this one runs a close second. If you've not tried Amira rice before, I urge you to do so. It's so fresh and clean-tasting, very white, with long thin grains. Other rice tastes stale and musty in comparison.
A 1kg bag of either the Superior or Pure normally retails at around £4, or £2 when it's on offer - which is still expensive for rice, but it is worth it.

Stocked up on this when it was 10p for 500g in B&M.
Tastes fine but it does have a chemical sorta smell to it... I guess it's what they use to bleach it? Just make sure I rinse it multiple times and its fine
