This is an extremely economic and environmental way to travel in these cities, if you are taking more than one ride. And the summer offer makes it even a better deal. Am off to book my summer day trips :)

BUMP
Since it starts from today.
Note - Plusbus tickets can only be bought when you have a train ticket (even if it is only for a very short distance). Works out very cheap if you plan to take two or more bus trips in most of the listed towns/cities.
Even cheaper than when using gold card discount in some cities.

Was going to vote hot until I realised you can only purchase with a train ticket so, sorry but cold for me.
Another problem is that when travelling to some towns, the Plusbus ticket is a bit useless if you want to travel to the next one, whereas a local day rover on one of the networks often cover this and aren't much more.

Fear the OP's headline is misleading as Plusbus can only be purchased in conjunction with a valid rail ticket to/from that location.
In previous years this summer PlusBus discount has been provided ONLY in conjunction with SOME of the online railway company (and other train ticketretailers) websites, so MAY not be as readily available as one would hope - ie see their
"PLUSBUS day tickets bought from non-participating websites, from ticket offices, from self-service ticket machines or by ‘phone will cost the normal advertised price (as shown in our leaflets & on this website).".
Shame they don't list which are the PARTICIPATING websites :disappointed:
I'm alert to the issue as eg Virgin Trains West Coast website does NOT implement the Network Railcard discount for Plusbus tickets in the Network Railcard area :disappointed:

Some local bus services can work out cheaper than Plusbus, especially if you don't have a railcard. This is particularly true if you need a weekly ticket, even if you only use it for say three days.

Why would you want to spend all day in a bus?

Yes, PLUSBUS can be used only when you have a train ticket. Works best for city day trips, when you are not driving all the way there and is using train to reach to the city. Many like me do not drive at all and use trains, and then plusbus comes in quite handy.

Surely these can only be used if you have travelled by train first? Its not a standalone cheap all day bus ticket

. Can I use PLUSBUS if I only want to travel by bus?
Sorry, no. PLUSBUS is an integrated ticket that has to be bought and used with a train ticket. So you must be travelling by both the train and bus in order to buy and use PLUSBUS.
