Your Anker cube speaker needs something to drive it, you need to connect it to a tablet or computer or an audio device with an AUX out. For someone who needs a basic device that plays CDs and allows you to listen to FM radio, AND WHO HAS A RESTRICTED BUDGET OF £10, this is definitely a deal.
What's the point of making absolute comparisons on deals without taking the price point into account? What's landfill to you - a statement based on a relatively high income/ net worth if I may assume so - could be a perfectly acceptable product to a student or OAP with a restricted income. Everyone knows that a Ferrari is a better car in every way compared to an Astra, but for millions of us an Astra is all we can afford and is fit for purpose.
If you can find a cheaper deal for a superior system that plays back CD's and includes a radio, why not post it? The community will be grateful.
Nice one OP, heated.

Even my Anker cube speaker has more power - and probably better sound - than this POS!.
(I hate this kind of cheap/nasty tech. It just ends up in landfill. Complete waste of materials - and money)

Nicely said. Not everyone on HUKD is rich, myself especially. That's why we're on HUKD, to save money on stuff we need :stuck_out_tongue:
Oh, and wenttoabetterplace: a mere £10 for a few years' use seems like a great deal to me!

Real muppets that enjoy reusing and recycling unwanted QUALITY technology?
I think you need to reassess your priorities me ole beauty. Because buying this cheap bit of tat when a mountain of quality second hand stuff is available is a real fools game.
The world doesn't need more landfill. & your ears don't need to listen to bad sound. So get creative - hunt down a bargain and enjoy the myriad of benefits that come from doing so.

WTABP has summed up exactly my thoughts. You can get great quality JVC micro hifis from the 90s for about £20.... gear that cost well over £200 back in mid 90s money!!
Why would you want this cheap tat? I wouldn't bother if it was free...

It AMAZES me that we spend money on sh*te - and then come up with some lofty justification for doing so.
If you are someone of little means (I'd include myself right there), then you should take comfort in the fact that you don't need to spend any more than the mugs buying this rubbish to bag yourself genuine, quality gear. You just need to lift your head up from HUKD and do a little research in your local area (on Gumtree, Schpock or...to a lesser extent....Ebay).
I personally don't think poorer people should have to coat themselves in cheap tat that gives no pleasure. I think it is liberating to repurpose other stuff - saving it from landfill - whilst spending no more than I would have done on brand new Alba toot.
As an example, I am currently listening to a set of PC speakers that I got on freecycle. They are Philips 2.1 speakers which would have potentially ended up in landfill....but which have instead given me quality sound for the last 5 years.
You don't need to buy brand new stuff to get bargains. Look beyond HUKD....especially for things like hifi systems - that were big in the nineties/00's, but which are now being punted into the long grass by virtue of bluetooth speakers and what not. Some lovely sounding systems available for v.v.little.
So yes - don't criticise me for not wanting people to perpetuate the electronic waste river. We all owe it to future generations to think before we buy.

I wasn't suggesting it would get a few years use. It'll get a few hours of use....then just end up in a corner, or a loft....and gradually shimmy to land fill.
Also, for people who have a tenner to spend, may I introduce you to Gumtree. A whole wealth of second hand gear that is VASTLY better than this bit of cheap tat.
It isn't rocket science. There's a whole world of electronic stuff that is begging for a new home....but because of our wasteful ways, will just end up in landfill.
Don't buy future landfill - repurpose some of the top quality stuff that can be had for a bargain price.
Future generations will thank us all for being less wasteful....and you'll have much nicer sounding music

Living in Brighton? - How about this Bush DAB CD player - for under a tenner
Living in Stanway, Essex....how about 40 watts of power for £15?
Living in Lincoln? How about this beaut of a JVC - with 60 watts of power (roughly translated as richer and more enjoyable sound - perfect for those workshops or kitchens  - £20
