In what way? These are used for just about every TV with Freeview/Freeview HD in.

They're not obsolete. Most new TVs have built in Freeview/Freeview HD built in and require a signal from your TV aerial. If that was the case, most people would get rid of the TV aerials on their rooftops.
An HDMI cable doesn't transfer signal from an aerial or satellite dish to your TV. Do you have an HDMI cable coming from your Sky dish or VM outlet?

I think people are getting confused with SCART leads. A SCART lead cable has generally been replaced by HDMI now. All the SCART OR HDMI does is get your freeview box, DVD player or whatever talking to your TV.

If you need a longer one you can get a 5m aerial lead from Poundland, including cable clips and several plugs/adaptors.
