Every time I get an email from ebay regarding 25% off fees they SHOUT IT IN YOU FACE but 75% and the subject is "Thanks for selling on eBay this year". Some serious marketing flaws, would never have opened that email unless I seen this so heat up!

Got this offer last time. Listed a £250 item and just sold it 4 days ago. Great saving on the fees!

Except the buyer hasn't paid. And knowing the way people behave on eBay...he probably won't.

Pity I don't appear eligible for this offer so I can't relist.

People, grrrr, annoying.

Where to find offer;

- Login to eBay, go to 'MyeBay', then 'selling' ('All Selling' if already in the MyeBay menu)...scroll all the way down to the bottom, your current offers for selling should be listed there under an orange tab that says 'Promotional Offers'. You will need to click the blue 'Get Offer' button to acccept. -

"Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only."

The fees on eBay kill it for me - I don't much care about the PayPal ones but eBay fees are too much which is frustrating because I Gumtree/Schpock etc don't have the same sales rates for me.

hi guys I got a question if someone could help, I listed my items a week ago and just accepted this offer now, so will the fees apply to these items as well or shall I relist? thank you x
HellRazer
28 Jun 16 #40
Just thought I'd add that you can't "refuse to accept returns". Ebay generally rule in favour of the buyer and if they have any issues and decide to send the item back to you via tracked delivery, you'll HAVE to provide a refund whether willingly or unwillingly when Ebay intervene.
JonnySniper111

Thanks Op. Bad timing from myself again. Listed about 15 listings last night, ended them and relisted instantly with this offer! Saved me from the curse of ye olde eBay seller fees
snappyfish
28 Jun 16 #42
I had the excellent £3 pay only selling fees for my listings the other day, advertised something and some idiot purchased it with zero feedback on June 13th. When asking when and how they would like to pay the responce was "sometime in the summer, I am skint right now"

you can imagine my frustration after speaking to eBay and they wont allow a unpaid item with promotion to be carried on until it actually sells!!!!
Newbold
28 Jun 16 1 #43
Appalling - you really do need to block zero feedback purchasers.
snappyfish
28 Jun 16 #44
Just applied those settings seems only -1 feedback rating?
chloe07
28 Jun 16 #45
Thats correct, you cant block zero rated sellers. Just minus ones....and since sellers cant leave neg feedback, how does a non-payer get a minus one LOL........thats ebay for ya.

Ross81
28 Jun 16 #47
Why do people have multiple accounts - bidding on their own stuff?
dodgymix
28 Jun 16 #48
possibly although I only list "buy it nows" so would be a bit silly

i opneed a few as they used to send you vouchers and paypal gifts at one point.. used to get £10 or £20 code every few months
They also made me upgrade one to a business account after 7 years of sales.. I dont use that anymore as fees are 13% or something daft
jazid
28 Jun 16 #49
Some what off topic but are you able to sell "cash on collection only" to avoid paypal fees? Am assuming you still have to accept paypal even if you request cash only in your advert, but thought I'd ask.
Obviously you are still liable for ebay fees.

nothing for me :disappointed:
Newbold
28 Jun 16 #52
Indeed so. The way round that I use - successfully - is to add a line to the listing making it clear that you won't sell to zero or negative feedback buyers unless they contact you first for approval. It adds a degree of control, and it's never let me down - even with risky items such as mobiles.
GodVilla
28 Jun 16 #53
I was thinking that myself. I listed an item in 2014, so if I accept this, should I expect a refund? TIA

qazitory
28 Jun 16 #55
I sold something 'spares or repairs' a few months back someone tried to return the item as they said it didn't work.

eBay are a joke as their helpline told me to refuse it, but when they raised their claim, they upheld it!!

Managed to get it refunded in the end but it was a hassle!
DubDriver
28 Jun 16 #56
There are people with -1 feedback, for example the person that purchased a pair of headphones from me then claimed they didn't work. eBay forced me to except he returned them but instead he sent back two g4 40w bulbs in order to gain a tracking number & signed for delivery! To eBay's credit they believed me although insisted I file a report with Action Fraud. Buyer became -1 feedback.

It's worth checking your ebay account or seller dashboard every day in case there's a promo - some are for one day only, although that's very rare.
Wish I had a pound for everyone who posts on the ebay forums about offers they've missed by a day or so, because they don't check their account often enough.

Cameron92
28 Jun 16 #76
Doesn't matter that they take less fees when the buyer scams you by returning their faulty/fake item instead of your working/genuine one and PayPal/eBay automatically side with them - you end up losing all your money anyway!
kamenitzabrit
28 Jun 16 #77
Very useful promo this one, as it spans two different months, so you can decide whether to use it now or wait until the start of July - I'm still getting the 100 free listings per day for this month, so I'll wait until July in case they decide not to continue them, and I can then use this promo to get an extra 100 for unsold stuff.

Everyone should really have multiple accounts, they're quite legal and can sometimes mean you get slightly different promos on each.
Another reason, and perhaps the most important one, is to use different accounts for buying and selling, so nobody can check what you're up to - whinging buyers I mean really, the sort who might see you bought something for a fiver, it wasn't suitable for some reason, so you are able to resell for more than you paid. Along comes ar*e*ole buyer and leaves you negative feedback because you didn't give it away free or something (It's happened to some sellers).
Yet another reason for multiple accounts is to use one for posting on ebay forums, so if you say something to upset somebody, they won't buy one of your listings and claim not received, negative feedback etc - that has also happened to some sellers.

Everything I have to sell, goes on Gumtree first. Only if it doesn't sell then it reluctantly goes on eBay. eBay is really crap now and I've been a member for 15 years.

Fees are high which are just about tolerable. What isn't is the fact that its completely geared to the buyer and screws the seller.

Thanks op - accepted offer.
Quick question, I`m going to end a few items to relist to get the offer, can I just relist them, will that count, or do I have to list them again from scratch, can anyone advise please? I`m sure a while back I read somewhere relisting wouldn`t qualify? Hoping I`m wrong mind, otherwise it`s` going to be a pain in the rear...
nick_sub
30 Jun 16 #123
You can relist and you'll be able to see that it's worked because your remaining listings under this offer will start to reduce (visible from the selling page).

I'd still like to know whether it's possible to revise a listing after the offer has ended and still be eligible for this offer? I may have to ask ebay that one...

Babbler
5 Jul 16 #133
I have done this a few times. To the point where I completely change a listing. It still applies to it. I have about 40 blank listing and use them every time an offer comes up for 30 days so I can list for a quid for a month.
Ebay have not stopped this and I hope they don't hence I asked not to email them and bring attention to it. Knowing my luck that will now change :disappointed:
misa426
5 Jul 16 #134
What do you mean by 40 blank listing and £1 for a month?
Babbler
5 Jul 16 2 #135
I mean when this offer comes up I create 40 "blank" listings as "bookmarks" and change them as and when I get a chance to proper listings. That way I can change all month and only get charged the offer price. IE I dont have to sit there and list lots in one day and take my time over the month.
dc92
5 Jul 16 #136
Ok thanks. Once I've changed the prices is there any way to make sure the offer is still there, just in case ebay have changed it? I don't want to risk it as I would lose quite a bit if the normal fees applied.
Babbler
5 Jul 16 #137
Don't think so no. Never bothered. I just see my final value fee after sale. As you are just changing price I'm sure you will be fine.
