I'll give a thumbs up here > AA Energiser AccuRecharge 2300mAh PreCharged. Bar Code is 7 638900 349993
£4 for 4 AA batteries, can't grumble at that at all especially if you keep the receipt and they don't perform as well as they should say after 9 or 10 months :smiley:
I did buy 4 packs at the Tesco Ollerton store for the little ones toys and for the battery powered inflation pump for the blow up pool and toys its all good

Cheapest I have seen it, myself paying £1 more. £20 is a norm price.

Really good charger this from 7 day shop. Seems to have went up a few quid since I bought mine.
The comments on Eneloop there forget that Eneloops quote a minimum capacity, unlike most of the rest.

Is it worth it to buy something more expensive or will that do the trick on say eneloops?

That 7 dayshop one is the wh2ds127 which I have. So far I have mainly good things to say about it.
My LIDL test battery mentioned earlier was the weakest of the bunch. I am doing a wh2ds127 cycle test of my pack of 4 Lidl Eco Ready to Use 2300. Early readings are 2350, 2330, 2100 and 2210. I am hoping the 2100 one passes 2200 after a proper cycle refresh charge.
For those who it might concern, at Tesco (Northwich) their own brand pre-charged AAA were discounted to £3.50

These are also in store at £4 just bought 2 packs from my local store. The label said £12 a pack but at the checkout they were only £4 a pack

Tesco have the Energizer Maxi Charger reduced to £8.00. Link.
This comes with 4x AA 1300mAh Batteries. I'm sure there are better chargers out there, but this seems to be a good price as Wilkinson's sell it for £12. Link.

Thanks for the tip, weren't many left at my local but bagged 8 of em. Mine are 2400mAh. Haven't tried em yet but this is what they look like for anyone else interested:
This is a good deal for what it is but the reason people are recommending the more expensive Eneloops (£7.32) is because they are cheaper in the long run. I've made the switch to Eneloops myself, worth investing imo

Lidl have their Eneloop type 2300mah in again. They should be at least as good. At £2.99 I think.

These were on clearance in my local a few weeks ago for £2 a pack as well as the aaa's. Grabbed a few packs.

A comment in the Amazon thread says "These are not bad if you charge them occasionally.
Otherwise, they can be short lived- all they can take 180 charges(Energizer claims 250 charges, but this is not true)
Had them, used them, but they are not for me... Bought Eneloops and they can be charged up to 1000 times. Some of them I have charged over 711 times and still runs like a dream."
Degraded before you buy them by the looks of it. Very 1980s.

OK... but at £4 for pack of 4 they are cheaper than 4 pack of single use batteries from energizer.

is the price in tesco express same as the main stores?
I think people mean LSD type batteries. These are LowSelfDischarge type batteries which mean they hold their charge when not being used (85% after 1 year 75% after 3 years) normal NiMH would be completely flat well before a year of none use!

In high discharge usage you can get as little as 7 seconds battery life out of the cheap disposables. Alkaline do not like a high discharge either, though they do far better.
My last test of my 2300 LSD(Eneloop type) Lidls gave a reading of 2160mah, which sounds normal. They claim 1000 charges which I am slightly sceptical of.

What does Eneloop "type" batteries mean?
Do they come from the same factory?
If so, £2.99 is a ridciulously good price.
I bought Fujitsu black 2450mah batteries (equivalent to Eneloop pro) from 7 day shop for around £8, I think. And that was the cheapest price on the internet. The Eneloop pros are ridiculously long lasting. My quadcopter radio controller which was eating up the pound shop batteries quickly, has not yet been able to use a full charge of the Fujitsu batteries.
And btw, the Energiser batts in this thread, though not as good as the Eneloop or Fujitsu, are not far behind. £4 is a great price.
