This deal is based on 2 adults flying out to Bratislava from Birmingham on 21st January returning 24th January. You will be staying for 2 nights in Bratislava in the lovely central apartment which has great reviews and a private bathroom. You will then stay for 1 night in Vienna in the Meininger Haupbahnhof hotel located by the main train station.
I did this trip at the beginning of the year and really enjoyed it, I would recommend anyone to do it.
Bratislava has a lovely old town which is only fairly small so you will have seen the majority of the sites within the first day. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants both in and out of the old town and the nightlife is great.
The apartment has great reviews on AirBnb and has its own private bathroom and is located close to the old town centre.
I advise checking out early on the 23rd as you will have seen most of Bratislava giving you plenty of time to see Vienna. The train ride is only an hour away and the hotel is located next to the main station. Vienna has plenty more sites than Bratislava and I personally prefer it. The giant ice skating rink and Christmas markets around the town hall is still open until late February so take advantage of this!
I have chose the Meinminger hotel as it is ideally located next to the train station which will link you to every corner of the city. The location is also great for grabbing your bags before leaving to head back to Bratislava the next night. The hotel has great reviews on TripAdvisor and is a 3* hotel with a private bathroom. The flight isn't until late on the 24th so you can spend the majority of the day in Vienna before hopping on the train back.
You can buy your train ticket at the train station and the trains are frequent and cost around €13 return.
This deal only includes hand luggage however you're entitled to a 10 cabin bag and personal bag each so it's plenty for this weekend get away.
It's pretty chilly in January in both these cities so make sure you wrap up warm!

Got to agree with this, I spent 5 days in Vienna a few years ago and 2 in Bratislava. I could have spent weeks or months in Vienna, two days in Bratislava was too much.

Vienna and Bratislava both good. Jump on a train from Bratislava and go north to the fatra and tatra mountains - Poprad and Ruzomberok ... Amazing scenery and lovely people!

There is a boat that sails up the Danube from Bratislava to Vienna, it does take longer but it is a great journey with cliff top castles over looking the river, pretty towns on the banks and open feeling of freedom on the open back bit of the boat.

Several years ago I done lots of European city breaks to watch footy games, mostly in the days when you had to stay on a Saturday night, so trips were 3-6 nights due to cup games being midweek, and I found the longer trips better for getting around.
Whilst I stayed mostly in Vienna, many fans stayed in Bratislava due to the huge price difference, and all of us had a great time, but several people went by train to Prague, as we'd been there a few months before and knew where to go, and how cheap it was - does that still seem like a good option these days, as I believe many cities have been 'destroyed' due to hoards of stag/hen parties ?
I remember the train journey having fantastic scenery, and also the obvious differences between towns either side of the border made for an interesting trip.
I know it's not always possible to take a week off work or something, but I found that it took a few days to look around and find some decent cafes/bars, where it might be possible to chat to some locals and get an insiders view of the place, as well as some tips on alternative things to do.

Massive price differences between Vienna and Bratislava for food and drink.
We did this trip earlier this year. Loved both places, but actually preferred Bratislava. Really enjoy the ambience of eastern European capitals, whereas Vienna felt very western European.
Both ars beautiful cities in their own right.

Those that want to take in another country (Czech Republic) could try Bratislava - Bruno - Vienna, We did this in 6 days though. Did this trip by coach and travel time was short for each leg. I strongly recommend Dilema Restaurant whilst in Bratislava slightly out of the centre near the Mercure hotel but the mixed grill was amazing.

Would add Olomouc to that list . Where you say ? Exactly , a smaller version of Prague that's virtually unknown to tourists. Even has it's own Astronomical Clock , but unlike the Prague one you can get a selfie with it without anyone getting in the way. Restaurants far cheaper than the capital too. I took the train from Brno ( 1 hour each way ) . http://tourism.olomouc.eu/welcome/en
