From the details page: The MagGrip 360 Vent Mount is a sturdy, multi-positional phone mount which allows you to magnetically place your phone right on the holder with no clamps or cradles. Just place the included slim MagGrip plate inside your phone case, attach the MagGrip 360 to the vent, and place the phone right on the mount. You can position the phone in a circular direction and you can tilt your phone independently of the vent to gain an optimal, customized viewing position.
I have the regular vent mount version of this car mount, and I use it nearly every day. I saw this was on sale, so thought i'd share with all of you!
Hope you like it

Would the steel plate that attaches to phone interfere with samsung s6 wireless charging?

It did on mine. Great little car holder otherwise.

yes it does interfere. instead of sticking it to the back of your phone i just put it inbetween my phone and my case and move the magnet to a different position when charging

Would it work with a metal phone (eg. Nexus 6p) without the plate?

No, nexus backplate is non-ferrous.

How does this work? I thought magnets and phones didn't mix well.

We found that this type of vent mount was insecure and also pulled down the vent position slots with the weight of the phone. Although more expensive, We find the following adhesive mount far superior. It comes with different sizes of magnetic plates for the phone. We use these in 4 cars, using 2 Nokia 735's, iPhone 5S and a 5c. The magnets do not interfere when using the Nokia 735's with our Belkin cordless chargers. We position the magnets between the rear of the phones and the thin protective cases, using masking tape to hold in position, although the magnetic plate has a 3M adhesive. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scosche-Magnetic-Dash-Mount-Smartphone/dp/B00HZYM2UA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462235233&sr=8-1&keywords=Scosche+Magnetic+Dash+Mount+for+Smartphone

Search "Kenu Airframe", much better and very well known. Works great and the magnetic strip isn't needed.
