I've seen 2.1a written on a tonne of things like this - very few actually supply it (for the curious, I have a USB current tester for this very purpose!)

The other problem is whether what you connect to it will draw more than maybe 1 amp, as there's no mention that these are smart sockets.

I doubt discovering something claims to do something it's not actually capable of doing is a problem unique to me - although if it is, I don't really mind...
If the local store gets them I'll grab one and we'll see what happens - hopefully it'll be fine but, honestly, USB devices appear to mostly come from a den of dodgy junk (powered devices which aren't, charging which doesn't and don't start me on the wall socket USBs which appear mainly designed to burn down your house!!)

They are intelligent enough to know that with a branded product from a high-street retailer, this is unlikely.
