Great disc brakes at a great price. I have these, upgraded from tektro mechanical, a ridiculously huge improvement, easy to fit straight from the box in 10 minutes.

I bought them from this ebay listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-BR-M615-Brake-/162062063957 a few months back. They were new, but not in packaging. £25.99 each, either front or rear - so £52 for the set. Really good upgrade from the clarkes ones I had.

Great price and great sellers, my last few orders from merlin have arrived so quickly.
On two occasions next day, even with standard postage and the other ordered late afternoon and it arrived 2 days later

great brakes.have these on my trance.have the slx on my other bike.no difference at all.the standard pads they come with are rubbish.same with slx pads.shimano organic.change them for some serated pads from superstar or urberbike and your on to a winner.as it happens the new xt brakes got a poor review the slx from last year win the test.and the deore are basically the same brakes as slx without reach adjust turn knob.shimano slx and deore are fantastic.a combo of both is good.the slx cassette is much better than deore cassette tho.if i qas on a budget id have deore brakes chainset mecs and chain and slx cassette and shifters.which can be had for 30 from merlin

Yeah m8000 xt out of box aren't so great, bled up correctly they are quality, I prefer them to slx m675 which as you say are equivalent to these m615,
Although both brakes work supurb and friends who have these m615 are more than happy,
I've seen an article for some new slx m7000 coming out and they look identical to the new xt, pearlescent finish,
Depending on your brake levers and shifters and whether you want your shifters attached is probably the main reason to go higher spec,
The m675 are ispec b, which you can attach the majority of 10 speed shifters ,
I planned to upgrade to 11 speed In the next year hence buying the xtm8000 I can do that with the ispec ii compatibility .. Why oh why did they need a different join http://www.pinkbike.com/news/shimano-launches-new-11-speed-slx-groupset-and-xt-goes-di2.html

I'm afraid I have no idea. They weren't packaged a box or anything. The certainly seemed new and unused, no marks on them. Don't know if they are gray import or old stock. Could be fake for all I know, but seem the real deal to me.

100% positive feedback on 8000 sales, doubt they're fake
