I haven't seen this before, and a quick search didn't find it on here.

You can share your prime benefits (kindle lending library, free delivery, video streaming, digital content) with 1 adult and up to 4 kids in the same household. Obviously a lot of people effectively did this by running everything on one account, but some privacy is nice - and my birthday presents can finally arrive on time :)

How's this hot? You used to be able to share Prime delivery with up to 4 people, now it's just one and you have to agree to share stored payment cards.

That's a shame.. Still hot though!

Well, yes.. through the tons of commission we must generate clicking links and buying useless carp.

How does the "kids" part work, can you create kindle/video only accounts or something like that? Seems like that could be quite useful and not necessarily only for "kids"...

I dont understand how this can be HOT? As per new rules you can just share it with one adult who has access to your payment methods.
I dont see a reason why you would need to share a prime subscription at home.

Previously you could do a share with four strangers and thats when it was a deal. Not now.
COLD.
OFI to abhijitdash123
11 May 16 #102
Well it depends on what part you think is the deal. Previously you could share just the delivery service with several people but that was it. Now you can share all of the Prime benefits but only with one person.

I'm on Prime and use the Music app for offline listening. Couple of weeks ago I checked if I could set up Amazon Prime Music app and separate downloads for the missus on her phone. Amazon Ts&Cs said not. So did something change? Can somebody point out a page that confirms how we could use Amazon Prime Music with separate logins and playlists?

Edit: OP said "you can share your digital content". Misleading. Excludes Amazon Prime Music. Downvoted.

10 May 16 1 #95
I wonder why they changed it? HUKD members clubbing together to split the membership 4 ways may have something to do with it :man: ? The shared payment details also seems like a deliberate attempt to stop strangers sharing the membership (although I wasn't aware of this, will have to check if I can use my fiance's card to buy something )

I ordered something from Amazon at 12:15 on Sunday afternoon and received it at 18:00 the same day! You can't really fault service like that!

Agreed. This prime sharing is rubbish. e.g. I'd like to let my 18 yo daughter share Prime Delivery... she still lives in the same house as me - but there ain't no way I'm ever giving her the ability to make purchases on my Card.
So, she's stuck with economy delivery, while I get next day.

Yer it sucks being able to order pretty much anything i want up until 7-9pm every day of the week and get it next day!(yes including sundays

It also sucks having prime now which means i can order something literally right now, have it 1hour for £6.99 or choose the next 2 hour delivery slot which is between 8-10pm ( last delivery is 10pm-midnight!)

Oh yer and its an outrage i can order groceries from prime now aswell!

It also sucks for my mum who gets all kindle books and ive got amazon music and movies

Its awful service for less than £3.80 a month (each)

£3.80 a month and im a mug??

All the "I share with my X and I don't share my CC details" should note, the rules changed. If you shared with various people prior to the changes, then this continued. However if you now try and do it you add them as your household and they do indeed share all payment information.
brilly
10 May 16 1 #32
if you have the old style prime and just let it renew with no changes then apparently you keep the same set up with potentially 5 sharing/paying members
been confirmed by a few people on chat
c.grex
10 May 16 2 #31
If you have had prime for a couple of years and shared it with other family (up to 4) , they will be able to take advantage of the prime delivery element on there accounts. So no sharing payment details, purchase history etc.

This was removed over 12 months ago and replaced with what is talked about here, where you have to share payment details. If you don't share payment details, you are likely on a legacy account like I am. I've just renewed and they haven't taken it off me or my other 4 family members accounts, I just hope they don't.

Yes I share it with my mum and she doesn't live with me although with the number of times she makes an excuse to just "drop" by she might as well live with me...I particularly liked the time she thought I might be interested in her junk mail and brought it to show me and was then most put it out when I put it straight in the bin...yes ok on reflection I probably should've waited until after she left but you live an learn :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though we live at different addresses and share prime (I'm the main account holder) but we also had to share our payment details with each other in order to share prime...her payment card is on my account and my payment card is on her account.

"Creating an Amazon Household

Learn how to Add an Adult to Your Amazon Household. To find out more about creating and managing child profiles, see our Help page about Family Library.

Note: To share content and Amazon Prime benefits, both adult account holders need to authorise each other to use payment cards associated with their Amazon accounts for purchases at Amazon. This won't affect either of their current payment settings, but each adult will be able to copy the payment cards of the other account to his or her Amazon account and use them for purchases at Amazon."
sickly sweet to Donna80
10 May 16 5 #17
I agreed to that when I became linked to my sister's prime account but in reality I have absolutely no access to her payment details, nor her to mine.

One other thing of note is that I only seem to get the prime delivery & Amazon prime promotions but I don't get the video streaming services, I think only the initial prime account holder gets the video streaming services.

I'm not complaining though as for me it's free!

I like Amazon, but I could never justify £80 a year ontop of whatever I am buying just for the convenience of next day delivery.

I use Amazon a lot, but more and more products are 'add-on' items with a minimum £20 spend and I've noticed that frequently their prices are more expensive than other online, or even in-store, shops.

Amazon used to be have good prices but they're now seemingly relying heavily on people being lazy an/or wanting next day prime delivery.

Already sharing the 'free' deliveries with two family members in different parts of the UK plus two more still living at this address.

The digital content sharing doesn't work, though - I'm assuming this is for newer accounts where you can't share free deliveries with 4 other people.
