A lot of devices say they only support smaller sizes as they were the biggest you could get at the time...

It doesn't work that way
It's the way they're rated (1000MB per 1GB)
A 128GB card won't format to 128GB. Exactly the same as HDD's and SSD's.

Nonsense, most items will support higher capacity cards, my phone says 64gb I have 128gb working same with my tab and my Gopro cam, and it's £24 cheaper than UK Amazon.

a bit pointless to have 200 gb sdxc card as most device only supports up to 128 gb and the price is still way too expensive

Depends if you want the extra storage, I personally think this is a billy bargain for extra storage on my tablet or MP3 player.
I've got all sorts of devices that claim 128GB limit or 32GB limit, some support it out of the box (usually exFAT), others require FAT32 (with it's limits) or NTFS, what is important is that all of them can see the full card. If the device supports the size and format then it's likely it will support the full storage capacity as the capacity limit on FAT32 is usually 2TB with standard cluster size.

Many devices specs only say that due to higher capacity cards not existing when the device it is was released. The manufacturer can't test the compatibility of non-existent higher capacity cards, so they can only say that the device works with the highest capacity cards of the day. The device specs never get updated when higher capacity cards are released as the manufacturers have better, more profitable things to do with their time and resources.

That is a great price for this. Obviously at a premium right now, compared to 128GB cards, but still good.

Given that a higher percentage of the card will be taken up by whatever, you'll probably only be getting like 170-180gb of usable storage. Just stick to a 128gb

Oooh, don't like the sound of that.... I like to know what's on my cards. :man:

You get 183GB, and it's linear scaling so you only get 115GB on a 128GB. For you to say that extra 68GB usable space doesn't matter, you must know every single other person's usage scenario.
OP, great find. There's clearly still a slight premium per GB for 200GB but not as much as it once was.
Yeah, that's the same logic I applied to house buying. I picked my 1 bed maisonette over a 5 bed house that would just be filled with whatever...

Excellent for music players like my Fiio X5ii and iBasso DX80.

Got this in a deal at Xmas for about £60 on Amazon UK. Merged with internal storage on my phone and works a treat.
Brilliant lack of informed knowledge every time a deal like this comes up - great read, just for the comments!
