Create a motion/heat/image sensor (I have setup a motion detection camera / cctv with mine)
Add an LED or TouchScreen display
Or even make a games console:

Raspberry Pi isn't made by a whole load of different companies, so a raspberry pi is a raspberry pi. Where it comes from (price, how quick it's shipped, delivery cost, etc) is the only thing that would be different when buying from different places. If it's fulfilled by Amazon then the order is taken care of by them the same way as if you buy directly from them...no?
Does the new improved PI gather dust faster or slower on the shelve while it sits there unused?

Off topic slightly - if you are determined to do this - easier option would be buy Aux port Bluetooth type adaptors (flea bay £7sh)- then get your phone to stream directly to this Bluetooth dongle thingy via Bluetooth and to stereo via the aux port
this way would save having pi3 in car for only BT streaming from phone purpose..

I've heard on the forums that the Rpi3 is pretty picky about power, even from a 2A supply compared to the recommended 2.5A. They do sell an official power supply for this which is guaranteed to work.
Given that a clean power supply is essential to get the best out of any electronic device and will ensure longevity and optimal performance, why skimp on this item to save a few quid?

The only thing I don't like about the official power adapter is the orientation of the plug. If it was upside down then it would be OK to go go into an extension that's placed up against the wall :neutral_face:

I think those "fulfilled by Amazon" sellers' stock comes from Amazon anyway so there's no difference. I could be wrong though. Usually if they are from outside the country they give a batch to Amazon to sell for them without the wait times.

Amazon FBA merchants 'kent photo' and 'Almost Anything Ltd' also same price (£30.85) but why would you choose a marketplace seller when you can buy from Amazon direct for the same price

I have the original Raspberry PI and I have to use a powered usb dock to give it enough juice to run a 2tb portable HDD does the Raspberry Pi 3 have enough power to run a portable hdd on its own?

The 2.5A power supply is important for the Pi3 if you want to avoid any problems.
Power supplies for the Pi2 ran fine on 2A, but if you're upgrading then upgrade your plug

Almost anything that will run on Linux with an ARM processor. It's practically a small computer, with the advantage of controlling electronics from its connection pins.
People have used it to control robots, to small submersibles, to an embedded night security camera, to controlling their washing machine.

So long as you're supplying at least 5volts and 2amps then yes, ideally 2.5amps, if it's any less you're going to have problems.

I was just using my pi2 to experiment with vlans, and even QinQ, a recent network protocol. Having a fully blown server OS, the pi can do all of these. By comparison, even Windows Server 2008 can't understand vlans. Not sure about 2012.

I have heard it works, if your power bank can output 5v but I doubt it will last that long, never tried it myself.
