Affordable quality
The Q Acoustic 2050i speakers are a quality pair of floorstanding speakers that, given the sound quality, are surprisingly affordable. Designed by true hi-fi enthusiasts, the 2050i use excellent quality components for the price and deliver a sound to rival many more expensive designs

Advice please, was thinking of putting a pair of floor standers inside cupboards Ether side of a chimney brest, is it worth getting floor standers over shelf speakers?

Floor standers will tend to be stronger on the lower end. What application, movies/music etc? If you're coupling with a sub it won't make as much of a difference though and I prefer my stand mounts for music as I often find the bass too prominent.
You need to be fairly careful putting any speaker in a cupboard though as some have rear bass ports and the bass may be boomy if too close to the back or enclosed. Not sure if these have rear ports but if it's recommended they're a certain distance from a wall I'd be wary...

These like to be a bit away from the wall , so probably not perfect for a cupboard .

Depends on your plan really. I'm planning on getting the denon AVR 2200W for Atmos so upward firing speakers can be put on top of the floor mounted ones, making it easier for placement.

I bought the 2000 cinema pack when they first came out in 2009. Was so impressed I got another pair of 2010's for a bedroom. Excellent products.

From your experience, would having a powerful sub make the 2 woofer drives on these speakers ineffective? Or make the sound "off" a bit?

"Off"? A sub set up properly should never make anything sound 'off'. Regardless of how powerful it is (which doesn't really come into it).
Set the crossover to compliment the range of the speakers and don't go mad with the sub volume and it should be fine.
Which sub are you using?

No. Has to be like for like.
An extra 50 quid and you can buy direct and choose your finish - between graphite and walnut (free shipping and five year warranty):
The LFE channel only goes up to 120Hz and a lot of subs don't go that much higher. You would roll off the speakers at say 80Hz so it won't be off at all. I prefer without a sub for music but for movies it's a must.

AV experts.. I have a question!
I've been pondering lately about upgrading my current home cinema setup. For the past 5 years or so I've quite comfortably lived with my Onkyo system (HTS-5405 if memory serves), which cost me £350 all in and to be honest has performed wonderfully given my expectations, and relatively limited AV knowledge.
The componentry I'm eyeing up for the upgrade is an Onkyo TXRZ800 and a set of 5.1 Q acoustics (2000 series). All told I can bag that for just over £1,000 from Richer Sounds along with 6 year warranty and also take advantage of their 'buy now pay later' scheme. Any advice? Anyone have experience with these items?
Any pointers much appreciated!

Yep, very good.
It has all the gizmos required for you to match it with these speakers so nothing will sound off.

Brilliant speakers! Regarding previous comments, they do vent from the rear and come with foam inserts if mounting close to the wall is a must.

Good speakers. Would recommend getting the centre 2000ci as well. Would recommend a good sub for deep Bass as these are reasonable mids but are designed to be used with a sub. Throwing extra speakers in doesn't lower your Bass frequency.
