Ty-phoo, weak?
Yer not wrong. I don't think we realise how bad something is, until we get a chance to compare. I'm always on the lookout fer a deal (love this site) so when I get the chance, I'll give the better? stuff a try, in the hope it hasn't been bought out fer the "name", and ruined, as seems ter be the norm.

don't go to staples.
they're selling tetley tea bags - 400 pack for - wait for it - £16.79.
what a ridiculous price.
one would have to be a very stupid shopper to stump that up.

BROOK BOND eh, I'd forgotten about them. was that the one with the adverts. (Father n son Chimps, as a removals team, moving a Piano) the Son said "Dad, do you know the piano's on my foot" dad takes seat at the keyboard, n said "you hum it son, I'll play it"

Nothing like the originals of Brooke Bond or Lipton's Tea. If we want the real taste, we should go back to the days of tea-pot, strainer and hand picked loose Tea of known origin and without milk. English tea is real brew in a pot with milk added to the cup 1st. Now days its all blends of machine picked tea from Africa and Asia for mass marketing. It is no longer the picked-tips, but grabs (or crap tea going by your comments)

It's highly unlikely that any of the big brands will give you the best cuppa. You get what you pay for, as you do with anything. The big brands adopt a pricing strategy that allows them to do the half price deals or better. However, all that means is that the "normal" price is inflated to allow them to do so. If you ever try some of the premium teas, the difference is staggering. :man:

Think I'll sit back, relax and enjoy my 2p/bag tea and avoid this madness thanks.

Fascinating reading this, I have always been a triangle teabag person but have switched because I stopped finding them so nice , I had no idea why, I assumed it was me, fascinating to hear that they've reduced the strength of the bags. It really became apparent when someone gave me a different brand and I decided to open that packet. Have been slightly wondering in the wilderness and bought some Twynings which taste nicer with a slightly smoky tang , these are too expensive to buy normally there are £5 for 100 bags , looking for a new regular brand

Yes, Ty-phoo is/does seem much weaker, but not the weakest. I once,ONLY once checked out Asda's "Smart Price" tea. Did I call it TEA?, erm, sorry. After only a few sips of 1 cup, I would have renamed it FLOOR SWEEPINGS.
Thanks to this site, I got a couple of boxes of PG ,at roughly the same price (bag fer bag) as Ty-phoo, and find PG a BIG improvement

They reduced the tea in the bags but kept the price the same, said it didn't make a difference.....just to their profits.

Funny you should say that, coz I got a deal on them from ICELAND, where as I've used Ty-phoo fer years (Poundland)
The 1st few cups of PG Tips did taste strange, but it's ALL fine now. Could it simply be a tastebuds thing do yer think?

I'm not sure, I've always drank PG tips and since the rebranding it's not been the same. I've tried Typhoo, I find it to be weaker than PG tips.

Got to agree 2 tea bags to make a decent cup of tea they have ruined a good brand in the name of profit.

I feel the taste is not the same. They might have done something else as I can't believe the reduction in size causing the flavour to change as much as it has for me.

Wth the old bags I used to stew the tea if I left them brewing for 4 mins, with the latest bags I can leave the brewing for 5 mins and not stew the tea. Definitely not as strong as before :disappointed:

the perfect blend.
as quintessentially english as a proper cuppa, rockstowes house, near tetbury has belonged to the brooke family as in brooke bond tea for 60 years.
visitors to the handsome georgian home, which has three acres and eight bedrooms have included one of the pg tips chimpanzees.
martin brooke and his siblings are selling the house for $1.3 million following the death of their father, philip, earlier this year.
philip's grandfather arthur founded brooke bond in 1869.
in 1930 the firm launched pg tips...
can't see it on the knight frank website to which the propertea snippet pointed.
