can anyone tell me what the output voltage is.
Is it AC or DC what polarity the holder is cause it's fixed to the front!!!!
if it's 60v DC you can weld aluminium with it!
any information is much appreciated
cheers Chris

I doubt anyone has cause to use a stick welder at home. Arc welding is for thick steel plate and stuff like that, industrial pipe fitting. It's quite difficult to do as well, without training you'll create a joint resembling bird ****. Take if from someone who can't weld either. A nice little MIG set for home would be a better start, but bottles of argon are expensive. If you manage TIG effectively then you're a pro. I'm bad at that one too, can't manage to go for very long without welding myself to the piece.

The only way I'll ever be able to do a neat TIG weld is if I get a third arm grafted on. I learned on MMA back in the dark ages when MIG sets cost the equivalent of a decent family car

Not if there's a hole there I'd have thought?!

I don't think the tester deserves that.

Yep can't say it was a good job but MOT tester seemed happy enough.

It's a bloody good job there are some experts on here. I was going to buy one to put up a shelf in the dining room. Saved myself forty notes and a fairly lengthy walk.

The real issue with the low end sets is that they are harder to use without a fair bit of practice. A MIG set is best to get you started, not the flux in the wire type, the inert gas bottle type such as Argon are best. Even a competent person will have a problem welding with this unit. I recommend hiring a MIG set rather than buying this.

You'd struggle on chassis rails never mind body panels!

Does anyone know if these power from a standard 13amp uk plug. I bought one a few years back from Aldi and took it back because it needed a higher rated socket - which at the time I didn't have - now I'm a bit more confident with electrics so would buy again with more confidence.

I'm looking for a decent deal on a Flux gas less welder as I think that might be a better option for home DIYers like me who always look for an excuse to work on a project

Ok for thick gauge metal. No good for car bodies etc.

I've seen it done successfully but it takes some skill, very easy to blow through lol.

Is this a good deal for starting?

The easiest type of welding to learn on is MIG rather than MMA (Arc). Unless you need portability and the facility to work off a generator I'd avoid this. You'd also be very well advised to get a proper welding mask rather than the supplied shield. Unbelievable that they can sell at this price.
