No micro SD card slot. A deal breaker, I think

is this better than the ultra smart 6?

This phone is great...except for the slightly tinny speaker (not a major issue!) and the SHOCKING battery life...such a shame as I love the phone!

Yep battery is the killer on this one. Still waiting for a drop on the 6p

Massive phone though...I've got a 6 and I actually find that easier to handle! Metal body and massive phone are a bad combo (as a day release owner of the 6+ i know!) I'm using the S7 Edge at the moment. I don't like all the Samsung rubbish but at least with Google Launcher and messaging app and other Google apps it isn't too bad...actually prefer the dialler now! Thing that is nice is size of screen vs body...can use one handed but still great for Sky Go etc...plus it wireless charges from my IKEA lamp! Why the 5X doesn't have that is just stupid when the 5 did!

I prefer Samsung flagship phones to Nexus phones. Google never make a flagship killer Nexus, never have never will it seems, so that's why I stopped buying after the Nexus 4 which wasn't that much better than the Galaxy S2 I had before it. The thing I don't like about Samsung is the completely useless update cycle, you can have one or maybe two major operating system revisions then get stuffed and they take about 6 months to a year after Google Nexus devices.

serious question, I'm looking for a new phone from my moto g 35... I was going to get an ultra 6 simply as for £100 it seemed a good phone but the reviews for the camera are putting me off. if I pay double and get this, am I getting a much better phone than the £100 choices? I take loads if pics when were out so I'd like a phone that does well and has a good camera ..... any advise would be appreciated. I don't mind paying up to £240 but only if it's a massive upgrade from an ultra 6 or moto 3rd gen.

I haven't used the other phones you mention, but the camera on the 5X is very good - it's the same as in the 6P but without video stabilisation. Although it's only about 12MP, it has larger pixels than many other phones, which loosely means less image noise. The main drawback is that there is no optical image stabilisation, so it suffers a bit in very low light because it has to use a shorter exposure time to prevent blurring (but the larger pixels help with low light to some extent). dxomark.com/Mobiles has some reasonably good reviews - you can see that the 6P, with the same camera as the 5X, is right up there with the latest iPhones and a little bit behind the flagships from Samsung, Sony and HTC.

I agree on the LG G4. It's currently going for £240 on Amazon. It has the same fast chipset but it has 2 huge advantages over the Nexus... removable battery and microsd card.
