Was looking around at the prices, as I need to get one to back up uni work, and this seemed a good price for 3tb.

I've included my experience with Digital River below (they are the people running the shop for western digital) and to be frank their customer service is horrific. Hope this helps and warns you of what you could be in for if you ever need to return anything.
""15 Days after my order and they still haven't even SHIPPED it they fobbed me off first of all saying it could take a week to send now I've mailed them again saying cancel my order or ship me one (as they are back in stock clearly) their reply was basically oh we cant refund you and you will have to wait some more. customer service stinks BE WARNED. i am currently opening a case with Paypal.""

They didn't ship mine either and took 3 emails over about a month to get a refund though. Hopefully if they get enough Paypal cases it will force them to get their act in gear. In meantime I think we should ban these WD outlet deals on here. Their normal store is OK.

My 2tb one works great, even tugged it off the table onto carpet whilst on, obviously not on purpose!, still perfect

Anyone know what the difference between the desktop and portable ones?
Are the drives inside the same.... Thinking of cracking one open and putting it into desktop.....

These have the WD 3tb Green 5400-5900rpm drives in them and are great for using on media servers / backup servers / nas / networked archiving etc etc ;-)
Easy to split them open and by far the lowest price you will get a 3tb drive for!

I ordered one of these from the previous deal and it took 7 days to arrive. I didn't expect it to take so long as when I ordered from them before (2 x recertified drives about a year ago), delivery was really quick (2 days). Reading other comments, I'm now happy that it did actually arrive! Maybe they are taking more orders than they've got stock for and making some people wait until they can fulfil them (?).

I got one of the recertified MyCloud NAS boxes a week or so ago.
Ordered on the Thursday, shipped on the Friday from the Netherlands, arrived on the Wednesday which isn't bad. And that included 3 days sitting in a UPS depot in Barking according to the tracking report. Thanks so much UPS. :-)
Technically they have 28 days to deliver if I remember correctly, all shipping times are only an estimate unless you've paid extra for expedited.

Thanks for the info. So this suggests that green drives have been rebranded as blue - so I guess a newer mybook will have a blue drive - which is fine for my requirements.
Do you know which drives are in the WD Elements Desktop 3TB ?? While they are £11 more I wondered if their drives were higher spec or possibly just the same ....
The Elements Desktop doesn't seem to come with with the WD SmartWare Pro backup program or True Image WD Edition which may not be worth a lot but are there nevertheless.

£99.98 for 2 using the code WDSTORECPN from above. Looks like the minimum spend is £100 to use the voucher.

recertified=refurbished. I wouldn't buy refurbished hdd unless for keeping only porn on it:)

Cheaper drives makes any backup system with multiple drives more affordable and I don't mind a drive failing if it means I get the chance to try replacing one.
