According to the description both games have been remastered using the latest 4A engine.
Just bought as i thought it was too good of a deal to miss at £3.12 a game, never played so can't comment how good they are, however reviews seem positive.
Offer ends 13th May

Reading the book at the moment and it's pretty good. Would recommend. Bit slow in bits, but it pays off and is worth persevering with.
The Witcher books are excellent too!
Miles off topic, sorry lol

I might check the book out then, the problem I see with it, is that the nuclear holocaust plot is the most unoriginal plot ever conceived as there's so many variations of the same plot. The cold war has ended so should nuclear holocaust plots.

Well, I don't read too often really so can't be sure it hasn't been done to death already, but it feels like a fresh way of looking at it to me.
The Holocaust context really only works to set up the setting, a fantastically oppressive look at what it would be like to live underground as humanity crumbles, no natural light, hardly any resources, strange political ideas and alliances forming groups of desperate people. Ultimately it's about what life might be like under those conditions. I'm only halfway through really though, it's a good length.
Cracking book really! Love the setting. As I say there are some slow bits as they really set out the settings in detail, but it's worth persevering.
The Witcher books are a bit punchier if that's more of interest. I'd recommend them both really but tore through the Witcher efforts, Metro I have to digest in chunks, but it's no less memorable.

How does the performance of the original fare against the redux version?

I was interested too and found this out online (copy & paste)
Experience radically improved gameplay: advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling and more responsive, intuitive controls plus signature features from Last Light such as the atmospheric ‘mask wipe’ mechanic, weapon customization, and silent kills and takedowns.
