the burj khalifa is quite incredible if you go to the top for dinner, the waterparks are probably some of the best in the world, well the one in atlantis at least, the beach by the marina is nice and the water is warm, obviously not a cultural break, but if you want good weather guaranteed and some fun then dubai isn't too bad at all.

That hotel is quite set back from the main 'strip' so factor in taxi costs because you will certainly rely a lot on them.

An uber taxi for about 30 minutes worth of driving is about £8!

Taxis in Dubai are very cheap, don't use the hotel private taxis, get the taxi with signs on it, very cheap

I've just come back from Dubai and I would recommend traveling by Metro it's much, much cheaper than taxi. I shouldn't need to say but as you'd know very safe, clean and air conditioned.

just don't do what I did and sit in the womens only carriage!
Metro is very cheap. 20 dirhams ( £4) for a full day pass, including the buses and trams

You're not the only one pal, I also sat in the women's section and a lady kindly advised that I move as she has seen people been fined before.
I love Dubai though, will definitely visit again, October-March the best time to go.

I entered through the normal carriage and walked pass the pink line without realising, ten minutes later it was an awkward walk of shame.
I enjoy it, spent a few days in Abu Dhabi this time and really loved it.

There are loads opening in Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the next few years... Ferrari World is already getting a large expansion, then there is Motion Gate, Bollywood, Legoland, Six Flags, IMG worlds of adventure... Some of the above parks are due to open later this year too.

Isn't Dubai world going to open soon too? went last year and the taxi driver mentioned it is to be the biggest theme park in the world. This is on the site of the Universal Studios that was originally going to be built between Dubai and Sharjah.

Yes I believe so, there are lots of parks being built in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, it wouldn't surprise me if both Universal and Disney build parks there in the next decade.
