There is a 'Keep Existing SIM' option at the bottom of the 'Bundles' page, which allows you to purchase a PAYG phone without a top-up. Unfortunately Vodafone now hides this button a few seconds after the page has loaded. You have to be quick to click the button, if you miss it simply hit F5 or the 'Refresh' button on your browser to reload the 'Bundles' page and try again.

Ordered thx OP...after voting it cold! You have since amended the price. Much better deal than most the cheap chinese tat.
This is for a birthday present, anyone know the best way/price to go about unlocking it (I presume it is locked to Vodafone) I need it on EE (Virgin). Would I need a Vodafone Sim inserted for unlocking as well? Any help appreciated, thanks.

It does work, but a pain to struggle through. My internet speed is fast so I used a vpn to slow it down to enable me to click the keep existing sim button, however this then took me to a blank webpage.
By opening up another browser tab I could see that even though it had taken me to a blank webpage it had actually added the item to my basket, so I clicked on the basket and continued with my order.

I have replied in post #6 about how I managed to get around it. You can install cyberghost as a free trial if you want a VPN to use for page slowdown.

When you hit F5, if you then hit stop as soon as the page loads, the "Keep Existing SIM" wont disappear because you don't allow the page to load fully (by stop I mean the refresh button on your browser that becomes an X when a page is loading)

Mine arrived split on the top right had side, within 10 minutes of the courier dropping off I was calling the indian call center, I've been promised a courier swap out, a returns bag, and a courier collection over multiple days with different Indian members of staff over a couple of weeks, Nothing has been actioned I still have a phone I can't use and no refund has been made to my account, two days ago I sent an email to the CEO of Vodaphone, but no reply. This is the worst company I've ever used, what else can I do?

I did unlock on ebay: item 21394226281, but you can find cheaper sellers probably, you will need non-vodafone sim to put unlocking code . Unlocking by putting codes does NOT void Warranty ( Vodafone's or Manufacturer's)
After unlocking you can use any GSM SIM with your phone, Vodafone logo start screen will be present though every time you switch on/off
cicobuff to tyr
9 May 16#9
Thanks for the reply, I am more concerned about needing a Vodafone Sim to start with. So to clarify, I can pop in a Virgin (EE) Sim and use a cheap unlocking code from eBay?
I am guessing you would need to unlock the bootloader to custom flash it to remove a vodafone logo start screen which in turn could invalidate the warranty?

Can I ask where you got this information as I was told by Vodafone, if you use 3rd party companies to get unlock codes rather than Vodafone, it WILL void the warranty.

Well considering LG have brought out 2 newer flagship models since the G3 I would say that you are asking a question that you already know the answer to, but I guess it depends on whether you need a new phone rather than want a new phone (if you WANT a new phone, then you probably wouldn't be anywhere near this deal anyway, more than likely seeing how much an S7 or G5 costs, unless your budget is limited)
If you use pretty much every function the phone has to offer then yes, of course it's going to be a fraction of a second slower, but most of the people who question the power of a phone are only using it for the camera, calls (obviously) and internet services. I don't think I've ever needed a smartphone for anything else and the G3 is certainly no dinosaur compared to phones that are 2 years newer but of course will clock slower speeds when tested but you could compare the S5 to the S7 and say the same etc. I have a G4 now and I think it's mighty quick. I don't fancy the G5 and I don't buy a new phone every year either.

Long story but ordered a handset lg g2 couple of years ago from voda site and received a phone after about a couple of weeks without any email notifications at all. Phone was a clear refurb in unbranded plain box. After visiting all stores who showed no interest and claimed no stock left , I was left to speak from one cs rep on the phone to another for approx two months with all the lame excuses in the world. No reasonable excuses or resolutions were offered and just as I was about to give up , I got a call from a manager who has offered an alternative handset for my trouble and even admitted he had a line of people to callback (no surprise ! Just check the previous lg g2 deal on hukd) . while everyone was being offered Sony z2 or and few htcs as replacements as the lg g2 had gone out of stock I was offered a still flagship Samsung s5 at the time which I took (cos it was retailing for £280 at Vodafone at the time). After this Vodafone expected me to return my product lg g2 at the time I felt the number of calls and expense and time I took and number of lies I was told that it was still not good enough so I simply kept that too. Still cannot forget the fiasco though especially being the beginning of a sale you would expect an organisation like Vodafone to get it right, I thought EE was bad in the beginning but still think this is the worst case ever. Just don't think I could put myself through this again unless it was maybe available in front of me in a store and the staff were not lying ,rude dirtbags !

You should have just sent it straight back for a refund, by law you have 14 days from delivery to cancel/return it. They now have a voluntary returns/cancellation period of 30 days from delivery.
If you buy online always return via online its much easier, that applies to any company.

I placed my order nearly two weeks ago when it was showing in stock - tried to get it resolved through the live web chat, but was told they couldn't help and to call in quoting my vodafone phone number (er, this is a new account, how can i have a phone number) - so went through twitter (no answer to my tweet) and facebook (was told to use the webchat or the status check, so going around and around in circles). So i called the Pay Monthly Team, who were grouchy that i didn't want to buy a pay monthly phone and they reluctantly transferred me to the Pay as you Go Team, who transfered me to another team - finally managed to find someone who could help me,and she said that the order was put on hold as i hadn't confirmed my order (even though i had an order number!) - so she spoke to her manager who told her that they had put it on hold as they were out of stock which i queried as it was showing in stock online! By that time, i was royally fed up so just asked for my order to be cancelled. Think Vodafone are playing too much emphasis on a toothless powerless webchat function that is unable to effect any actions.

I personally cannot see how it could invalidate the warranty either through Vodafone or direct with LG as you are not unlocking the bootloader to root, simply unlocking the Sim region lock.
tyr
10 May 161#36
Of course they will tell you that because they want to charge £20 for the same...Rooting will void the warranty, all other types of unlocking (exept by code based on device IMEI) will void it as well. I know it from my experience with other providers like o2, EE etc. Try to avoid any unnecessary contacts with Voda CS staff especially over phone or chat- they are useless and unprofessional- IT IS A JOKE- NOT SERVICE.IMHO

Got this phone a month ago from the deal on mobilephonesdirect.co.uk, tied into 24 month deal, but old phone broke, so this was good option with sim deal too, phone is very good, better than I thought, but it is best to upgrade it to Marshmallow, this can only be done through their LG suite software via the PC, recommended.

Thanks for your reply. So your order was for this particular phone? When you placed the order and it was showing in stock did it go out of stock quickly again? What was your online tracking showing?
I have my concerns to want to resolve this quickly if there is a delay due to this being ordered as a birthday present for 21/05. I ordered yesterday of which the website reliably (or unreliably) informs that it is delivered to store in 2-4 days.

Went to the store and they had no idea what I was talking about as they hadn't received any LG g3 orders. Contacted Vodafone chat and they told me that they haven't been shipped. Had my LG G3 for almost 20 months and simply the best phone ever - amazing Quad HD quality and a beautiful 5.5" size screen with a brilliant camera- just works perfect.
Im considering to purchase this deal as a spare!
keep the software that came with the phone. do not upgrade - lollipop and marshamallow are both very laggy.
Latest software releases are optimized to run with the latest handsets with faster processing chips and more memory - my friend upgraded his LG G3 to marshmallow and has had numerous problems with batter drain, slow loading of apps and its very very sluggish - so do not upgrade
an LG advisor told me the following
LG G3 = best with kitkat
LG G4 = best with lollipop
LG G5 = best with Marshmallow

Mine is stuck at number 2, but yes 3 & 4 are really related to home delivery although collection from store would still require delivery as stores do not have them in stock, so unsure...it could be that delivery to store would flag those 3 and 4 stages still apply to instore delivery.
This is the 3rd day after order and it does say delivery to store in 2-4 days but who knows, Vodafone's system is both vague and the website itself has been problematic over the past day, either down or not functioning correctly.

Really had the run around with this. Went on live chat early afternoon, guy checked the WEB order number and told me it had been despatched to store and gave me the courier tracking reference (they use DPD or their own internal courier...in my case it looked like internal), and told me to go to store to collect my order.
Tried calling the store to check, they conveniently do not answer their phone and have a recorded message.
Went to store, had the most horrendous of girls tell me it was not in store, not sympathetic at all to my plight of run around...did not want to know about the courier ID only that "the computer says no" not bothered that money has already been taken for the goods and told me to contact customer services for either a replacement or refund.
Called Customer services, explained, gave details of my order, was promised a call back in "10 minutes"...no call back, get onto web chat again....and promised that order has definitely been despatched (although upon asking twice he seemed to avoid the question asked of exactly WHEN it was despatched) and made a note that it is a gift and 'hopefully' I should get store notification tomorrow for collection....it can take 24 to 48 hours from despatch.

Never again....finally got my order, after around 15 phone calls, countless web chats, promises of call backs etc etc.
Online team were sure my item had been despatched to store, ordered 09/05. 12/05 no notifications, go to store, nada.
Spend the weekend trying to chase it all up....I cannot get through to my local store via phone, neither can the online team...was not going to go to store on another fools errand.
Somehow miraculously today through a webchat a guy gave me the actual DPD reference for my order after questioning the warehouse (something I have not been given before (just an internal despatch reference), mysteriously I found from the tracking with that the store had actually received the goods the day before I went to be told it had not arrived (11/05).
Armed with this I go into store this evening and nearly an hour later come away with the phone. Transpires my WEB order number had wrongly been allotted with another, and they did not even know on the system what to do about it to push it through...I had paid for the goods but they could not give me the phone until they sorted it, so there was the phone in front of me, the holy grail of 8 days of grief still not in my clutches....eventually they managed to work something out on the system. From overheard conversations they would have not let me have it if payment had not been taken, it would have spared them any hassle they clearly were frustrated to have to try and deal with. :smirk:
Anyway, despite all this...never again, rude staff in store with any complaints, useless online team, useless customer services team and I am intending a follow up with Vodafone head office in Newbury.....I have had some pretty bad customer experiences but this tops it all, and to be honest with it being for a gift and the anxiety it has caused me it has not been worth it, personally I have been a mental wreck with it all.
I am going to try 0333 304 4764 tomorrow that is meant to put you straight through to customer relations between 9-5, and also log complaints on social media, regardless of getting this phone I am feeling vindictive about the way I have been treated as a customer both instore, online and over the telephone, and I am not going to leave this experience and how it has made me feel ill rest until my voice is heard by someone at Vodafone that at the very least pretends to care, even better if it is with any sincerity. I have never known such a company have so much disdain for their customers, with no apologies. Or for that matter a company that get their backs up as soon as any criticism is drawn to shoddy service....guess they are used to adopting a defensive manner they are dealing with bucketloads of complaints daily.
cicobuff " why do you never answer your phone in store, I tried countless times as did the online orders team to track the order to no avail".
Store Advisor "why did you not just come into store and purchase in store"
cicobuff "errrr because stocks of this particular model are not available in the store"
Store Advisor "why did you not just order for home delivery"
cicobuff "Because it was a birthday gift for the item that has now past the date and I did not want my wife as the recipient knowing"
So critisise a bad aspect of the store and you get the third degree back about your purchase habits...with no apology for the inconvenience, no apology for not being able to contact the store, no apology for the fact you had already been in to the store once already and had to deal with an equally bolshie sales advisor. No real thought about the fact I have to travel to my store...granted it is not far a journey fortunately to my local but that is besides the point.....would love to see how they get on if the boot was on the other foot.
To top it all off I have just had to cancel an Amazon order mid delivery as I was pretty sure I would not be getting this phone as an intended Birthday gift.
Anyway, thanks OP for the heads up on this, it was a great deal and pleased to get the order...I would never order from Vodafone ever again though despite a tempting cost, the grief far outways the benefits.

Received mine...returned it after 2 days, still waiting for my money. I will never order from Vodafone again, after an hour of transferring me to few different departments they don't know if I'm actually due any money from them! Waste of time, you're lucky if you get your order, but it gets even worse when you have to deal with CS.
Opening post
To buy without a mandatory top-up:
There is a 'Keep Existing SIM' option at the bottom of the 'Bundles' page, which allows you to purchase a PAYG phone without a top-up. Unfortunately Vodafone now hides this button a few seconds after the page has loaded. You have to be quick to click the button, if you miss it simply hit F5 or the 'Refresh' button on your browser to reload the 'Bundles' page and try again.
Back in stock in 2 colours!

Do u work for them??
This is for a birthday present, anyone know the best way/price to go about unlocking it (I presume it is locked to Vodafone) I need it on EE (Virgin). Would I need a Vodafone Sim inserted for unlocking as well? Any help appreciated, thanks.
BTW, heat added. Great price.
By opening up another browser tab I could see that even though it had taken me to a blank webpage it had actually added the item to my basket, so I clicked on the basket and continued with my order.
After unlocking you can use any GSM SIM with your phone, Vodafone logo start screen will be present though every time you switch on/off
I am guessing you would need to unlock the bootloader to custom flash it to remove a vodafone logo start screen which in turn could invalidate the warranty?
If you use pretty much every function the phone has to offer then yes, of course it's going to be a fraction of a second slower, but most of the people who question the power of a phone are only using it for the camera, calls (obviously) and internet services. I don't think I've ever needed a smartphone for anything else and the G3 is certainly no dinosaur compared to phones that are 2 years newer but of course will clock slower speeds when tested but you could compare the S5 to the S7 and say the same etc. I have a G4 now and I think it's mighty quick. I don't fancy the G5 and I don't buy a new phone every year either.

Worst company I've dealt with in years. £150 out of pocket & so far little sign that they wish to give it back or send me a phone.
If you buy online always return via online its much easier, that applies to any company.
I would cancel your order if you haven't already
Reading all the problems that were going on at the time there was no guarantee of getting my money back that same year OR at all !! If you buy something then you should get it as advertised instead of being told lies and misinformation. I stuck to my guns but i wouldnt recommended it due to not being able to use your product for two months ! In the end it was a good outcome but seriously would try to use the store option as online you will not have anyone who will bother helping you. Heat for the deal btw!
I have my concerns to want to resolve this quickly if there is a delay due to this being ordered as a birthday present for 21/05. I ordered yesterday of which the website reliably (or unreliably) informs that it is delivered to store in 2-4 days.
My tracking shows the following...did you check tracking at all when you placed your order and even get this far with your order?
a)i think it went out of stock a few hours after odering
b) online tracking didn't progress past stage 1 - "We've received your order.
Checking your details and processing your order."
Hell of a lot of phone for the money.
That's quite a statement...
This is the 3rd day after order and it does say delivery to store in 2-4 days but who knows, Vodafone's system is both vague and the website itself has been problematic over the past day, either down or not functioning correctly.
*EDIT* just fully read what amorset has said, so amorset yours is still on number 2 but you had an email stating it was ready for store collection?
Mine is also a gift, and I opted for store collection, ordered on Monday around Midday....no email as yet and tracking on number 2.
:disappointed:
I have little faith in Vodafone, horrendous company, both in store and online.
Almost identical experience. They even had the cheek to send me another email to tell me the phone is still at the store waiting collection & if i dont pick it up it will be sent back. Store didnt have a clue.
I can honestly say I have never dealt with such a mickey mouse company in all my life.
I have no faith, frustrating Indian call centres and false promises.
