If you have a home cinema system, you only need one HDMI port on the TV - Sky box, games consoles etc go into surround receiver, HDMI Out on the receiver then goes to the TV port.

Biggest negative is lack of audio output meaning stuck with onboard speakers

Because companies have to pay a licensing fee per socket they use. This is a super cheap TV hence one socket.

To the people picking this apart for 1 HDMI (which is plenty for a standard living room TV) or tinny sound (which is not true as I have one myself) think about this. An LED full HD 1080p 43'' tv from a company as big and reputable as LG, for 179 quid, with free delivery?
I posted the 49'' version of this TV from LG too, at 309 it got 100 degrees, this is miles better. if you don't think this is a bargian you're mad.
I have found the solution for this. We're looking for "HDMI splitter with audio output", please search at Ebay/Google.
Not sure how good is the quality of the sound through this splitter. Hopefully it will resolve the issue with no audio output. Because I want to output the HDMI audio to my soundbar. I admitted this is a good price. I actually found this TV at this price at Tesco but it was out of stock. Thanks op.

All i have to communicate is that i have very bad experience from ao. just check their return policy, which is very customer unfriendly to say the least. if you are unlucky and want to return your tv (happened to me) you will lose about 45% of your money, for their claimed "14 day free' returns. All i say is check their terms and conditions first.
Cold from me due to the retailer.

I would have thought eBay's policies would apply - would they not?

The Seiki model seems to lag behind some of LG's features, based on AO's specifications list:
Power consumption: 70w (Seiki) vs 36w (LG)
Motion rate: 60hz (Seiki) vs 300hz (LG)
Dolby sound: No (Seiki) vs Yes (LG)

If you have a Receiver that predates HDMI inputs and need to feed it optical then buy a HDMI audio extractor, otherwise if you have a receiver with HDMI inputs you really have no problem.

HDMI royalty rates are as follows:
For each end-user Licensed Product, fifteen cents (US$0.15) per unit sold. If the Adopter reasonably uses the HDMI logo on the product and promotional materials, then the rate drops to five cents (US$0.05) per unit sold.
HDMI Adopters pay an annual fee of ten thousand dollars (US$10,000).

Would this or the Medion (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/medion-life-50-lcd-tv-with-roku-p18047-medion-249-99-2455721) be better for playing Xbox one/PS4 on?

Yes, but you're then stuck with the same settings across all of your inputs. Absolute faff if you have a games console hooked up.
Not to mention the fact that you either have to use a separate remote to switch inputs or even use the buttons on the box itself.
1 HDMI not good.

The specification list states that there is no LAN port on this TV: Ethernet (LAN) Input: No
I imagine they only include an ethernet port on their Smart TVs.
The Which listing for this TV explains the satellite input thus: This TV has a built in satellite tuner (known as DVB-S), which can be used to receive services such as Freesat.

can you confirm what soundbar did you test and assuming you used the optical output ?

I have a Phillips Htl 5140. I tried to use that SCART output with stereo analog output going to 3.5mm socket, unfortunatelly it doesn't work. I'm planning to buy the HDMI audio extractor or HDMI Splitter. The good thing with this Telly it can play 3TB external HDD. I also can use the satellite tuner if you have a satellite dish.
