Spotted the MR16 for £1.99, they are my favorire for bathrooms and kitchen. They offer a good broad beam and 320lm, they have other bulbs at this price in the clearance tab.

420lm are 99p at home bargains at the minute or are at the one in Bury, I bought 10 but 100s on the shelf, very good and very bright

Do they come with a 5 year guarantee. I have not seen the HB bulbs, they might be good. I can only recommend the bulbs I have used. I'll call in and have a look.

Can anyone tell me how to check if my current drivers will be LED compatible?

It's a bit hit and miss, check the load specification on the driver. Is it Low enough for the total LED load your going to fit?

Sounds odd but you can leave one halogen bulb in place and change the rest. I bought four LED replacements for my 20W halogen MR16 bulbs and they flickered horribly. Put one halogen back in as a temporary measure and was going to just buy more halogen ones as I didn't like the wide beam of the LEDs. A month later and I've got used to them. Will still change again for 20W halogen dichroic - eventually.

Thanks for that. I think I have individual drivers for each bulb but will need to check. Assuming I do can you give me an idiots guide to which figures I'm looking at? I assume the bulb packaging will have a figure and the driver will have a corresponding figure and one needs to be higher than the other right? It's been a long time since I studied any physics!

The driver may have a range, say 10w-60w, so your LED bulbs would need to draw at least 10w to work properly, i doubt you would ever be over the range of the driver on LED bulbs.
My example i have 3 x 4w led bulbs, the driver is 20w - 105w, so it will buzz and they might work just, if i had 5 x 4w led bulbs it would just make the minimuim and be ok.

Mine arrived today and even came with a complementary mini bag of Haribos. Nom nom nom... <3
Installed and working perfectly. Light appears less yellowy than with old 50W halogen ones.
Thanks for posting OP!

I have individual transformers for each bulb but unfortunately they are the AC type ...so when I fitted LED bulbs they suffered "flickering"....you need DC type transformers for them to work properly.
It was cheaper for me to remove the offending transformers and replace with GU10 connectors ..fortunately the bulb supplier agreed to exchange the MR16 bulbs for the GU10 type.

like you I have AC type of transformer per bulb. Can I just simply remove transformer and connect up a GU10 bulb holder or is there more to it?

Depends where it is, as some areas of the house such as the bathroom might require lower voltage for safety reasons.

You could also just rewire it so 1 transformer drives 4 LEDs, I I did this in my bathroom as otherwise the bulbs flickered. You don't need any extra cable as can just use the mains cabling that was linking up each transformer to link up each mr16holder. Obviously though if you switch back to halogen you could blow the transformer, but it shouldn't be dangerous. Fairly easy job if you have access to it in the loft space.

Why not just ditch the transformer, replace with GU10 flyleads and go with mains GU10s?

I just have the MR16 bulbs in the kitchen

Well that's what I did and they are in the bathroom so I cannot appreciate why low wattage is a safety issue....my other small bathroom has 3 x GU10s fitted not MR16s...I just fail to understand why my 2007 build is so inconsistent...it has GU10s in the kitchen and MR16s on the landing.....the landing lights are never on for more than a minute or so or I'd change them to LED GU10sI
