Just install Nova Launcher or Google Now Launcher - problem solved. Did this with my wife's P8 lite and other than the notifications, it's much like stock Android.
The phone itself is a bargain. She got it for £79 from Vodafone and then unlocked using DC unlocker. Runs quick with the 2GB RAM. No lag at all. Camera is good. Not flagship good, but certainly miles better than gen 1 Moto G she is upgrading from. Way better than all of these cheap import 13MP cameras I've tried.
As for the keyboard problem mentioned above. Install Google Keyboard, again moving closer to stock Android. Absolute bargain for £79 or £89.

Double click on the ALE-L21C432B550 or 551 file then double click on the HUAWEI
ALE-L21 EMUI4.0+Android6.0 rollback to EMUI3.1+Android 5.0 file( the first file when you open the ALE-L21C432B550 or 551 file ) there is the dload file ,after same steps which I wrote for the upgrade. You will found there as well the Word file ( HUAWEI ALE-L21 EMUI4.0+Android6.0 rollback to EMUI3.1+Android 5.0 Operation instruction) for more information. I hope this will be help.

Nice find, now running Marshmallow.I ran it from the the phone storage /sdcard0 as I haven't even had chance to buy extra storage, for anyone else who may wish to try it please bear in mind that the .rar download is 1.52gb and the extracted folder 2.85gb so you will need at least 4.37gb of space before you can delete the. RAR file
.
Thank you very much for posting your find and instructions.
PS Do you know which folder or file should be placed in the root directory in case I need to revert back?

Omg you people are unreasonable.... Has it ever occurred to you that someone might wear clothes that don't have a breast pocket eg a t shirt or hoodie and likewise not everyone wears jeans all the time...second tto the fact have you seen ladies jeans these days the front pockets are often fake and stitched closed and when they are not your be lucky to fit a lip balm in there never mind a 5inch phone.
I can't be bothered arguing this case any more if you people think that's too much to ask for a phone to be sturdy enough to survive being in a pocket that's your opinion

If you want to upgrade for Android 6 (P8 Lite Firmware ALE-L21C432B551 single SIM, Android 6.0, EMUI4.0 or P8 Lite Firmware ALE-L21C432B550 dual SIM, Android 6.0, EMUI4.0 ) you can easily from the http://consumer.huawei.com/hu/mobile-phones/support/downloads/huawei-p8-lite-hu.htm this is the Hungarian Huawei website, and these Firmwares useable for all European Countries.I did one hour ago and everything works well. Note: if your Huawei P8 lite is single sim do not upgrade for dual sim firmware because it will be not working. If you did download the proper firmware extract the WinRar Firmware then double click on the ALE-L21C432B550 or 551 file, then double click on the Software file, then you need to copy the dload file into your Sd-card or your internal storage but prefer to use Sd-card. Final steps go to click Settings in your phone, click Update, click Menu, click Local Update and follow the instructions, or typing the *#*#2846579#*#* click the 4. Software Upgrade then click 1. SDCard Upgrade and finally click the ok . Enjoy(_;) one more thing, the upgraded version will be same English, you do not need to change nothing.

I had the same problem with mine, I was using my existing 3 sim and couldn't figure which way was up until I studied the instructions with a magnifying glass (There are small). Once I figured it out it still wasn't recognised, BUT after a restart everything was fine.
Good luck.

LOL that looks bloody complicated just to upgrade.
I upgraded my P8 (not Lite) and it was easier than that.
In fact MM had a gmail bug so i downgraded back to 5.1 then upgraded again once it was fixed.
Although these are official roms they are not OTA updates, still no sign of the official MM OTA update for the P8.
T shirts hoodies etc don't have breast pockets and not everyone carries a handbag or Man bag. It's not unreasonable tto expect a phone to be able to be OK in a pocket
soldierboy001
15 May 16#118
I'm sure you can find a suitable location but if not why not try a breast pocket or a hand/man bag.

I have had a very similar experience. I ordered two phones separately on the 11th and received an order number for each. Come Friday no sign of either despite the deliveries supposedly being 'next day'. I decided to call support to see what was going on and they told me that the phones had only just come back into stock and that I should expect my first order to be fulfilled on Monday. They could find no evidence of my 2nd order even though I was given an order number. I simply cannot see how this could be possible. How can they generate an order number with the correct details if it is not on their system? On checking my card account I see that £89 has been deducted so I guess that I will get one of the phones but do not have a lot of faith in cpw customer support's suggestion that the 2nd order may appear after the first one has been delivered. I suppose I could order another one if it doesn't but I have a nasty feeling that if I do then by Murphy's luck the missing order will appear magically demanding I have to pay for that phone as well.

got one of these the last time it was the same price on CPW,
its comes single-sim but can be changed to dual-sim via firmware change,
if you use 'xposed framework' dont buy as it doesnt work with Huawei EMUI 3 without alot of messing about and even then some apps still dont work.
I like modding my phones, if I had known about the limits of this phone regarding ROMs I would not have got it, but I can't afford to buy a new one at the moment.

Try :
1. Back up your phone,
2. Do a factory reset,
3. Do the update again ...
I did it on my Honor 7 without any issue. Maybe it will help with the P8 Lite.

Well what a shambles :disappointed:
Ordered last Thursday, ring CS on Monday, no record of my order
Ordered again on Tuesday, ring CS wed, no sign of order
Ordered again today for payment and then store pickup, arrive at store and guess what, no history of order!
Can’t understand what the problem is as have ordered many PAYG phones from CPW with no issues, I had also received conformation emails on all 3 orders
Eventually i purchased from the store, but obviously no cashback for a store purchase, although all 3 orders immediately tracked on topcashback, so will wait and see what happens to them

After having this for 7 weeks and using it for about 4 of those, I decided it wasn't for me. Don't get me wrong, it's an unbelievable phone for the price. I just couldn't get used to the Android OS compared to iOS, the size of it at 5" after using an iPhone 4s for years and there were just a few minor irritating things about it like button placement, having to use glitchy 3rd party apps to personalise it, nothing major. I suspect I'd have the same issues with a flagship Android phone like a Samsung S7 I guess?
Anyways, the purpose of this post is to say that I sold the phone in used (albeit immaculate condition) on eBay Sunday just gone for £115, cash on collection and the unused £10 SIM for £7. So after all the maths/fees, I've actually made a profit... :sunglasses: !! Okay only about a tenner but I won't grumble. I'm sure a new sealed one would sell for more than £115. Madness.
I'm getting an iPhone SE 64gb in Space Grey next week as my replacement, can't wait but obviously the £439 price is slightly more eye watering than the staggering cheapness of the P8 Lite.
If you're on the fence about purchasing one, I'd say go for it. Dip your toes and if you like it, great. If not then you can sell it and quite likely make a small profit, well at least while CW are currently selling them for £79 (I paid £89) and the P9 Lite is under wraps...

I bought this a few months ago and for the money I think it's a great buy. The camera is excellent, with light use I'm still on 50% battery at the end of the day. Loads of space with 16GB internal memory for apps. Feels good quality and I put Nova Launcher on it (and Swiftkey) to make it much smoother and easier to use. Found the stock keyboard laggy. The screen could do with being brighter in direct sunshine. For light to medium users on a budget it's well worth considering.

To answer a couple of the points raised:
Feedback from a family member (who got this on the PAYG upgrade deal) is that
- the keyboard is a bit laggy and prone to intermittent bouts of annoyance (I have a budget Huawei which does similar - must be something to do with their software)
- battery life could be better, but isn't terrible (usually overnight charge sees her through the day with moderate-high screentime).
She was comparing with her previous HTC One and Samsung S4, so primarily these minor issues are easily compensated by the price point for the P8 Lite (which is the reason I suggested it to her).

Carphone Warehouse PAYG phones come already unlocked, the only exception I believe are iPhones.
Most of the phones we sell aren't locked to a network, including almost all of our SIM free phones. That means you can put any UK SIM card into your phone and enjoy the benefits of whichever UK network you prefer.

Nothing more than that.
You have my apologies
ALE-L21 EMUI4.0+Android6.0 rollback to EMUI3.1+Android 5.0 file( the first file when you open the ALE-L21C432B550 or 551 file ) there is the dload file ,after same steps which I wrote for the upgrade. You will found there as well the Word file ( HUAWEI ALE-L21 EMUI4.0+Android6.0 rollback to EMUI3.1+Android 5.0 Operation instruction) for more information. I hope this will be help.
.
Thank you very much for posting your find and instructions.
PS Do you know which folder or file should be placed in the root directory in case I need to revert back?
I can't be bothered arguing this case any more if you people think that's too much to ask for a phone to be sturdy enough to survive being in a pocket that's your opinion
http://consumer.huawei.com/hu/mobile-phones/support/downloads/huawei-p8-lite-hu.htm this is the Hungarian Huawei website, and these Firmwares useable for all European Countries.I did one hour ago and everything works well.
Good luck.
I upgraded my P8 (not Lite) and it was easier than that.
In fact MM had a gmail bug so i downgraded back to 5.1 then upgraded again once it was fixed.
Although these are official roms they are not OTA updates, still no sign of the official MM OTA update for the P8.
Also for those on MM maybe check if the P8 Lite has the hardware to support Doze.

The P8 doesn't.
really like the P8 lite, but already bent it in my pocket, so be careful with it guys. I have a feeling it's not built to last :/
its comes single-sim but can be changed to dual-sim via firmware change,
if you use 'xposed framework' dont buy as it doesnt work with Huawei EMUI 3 without alot of messing about and even then some apps still dont work.

And remember this is to get an official ROM!
I like modding my phones, if I had known about the limits of this phone regarding ROMs I would not have got it, but I can't afford to buy a new one at the moment.
1. Back up your phone,
2. Do a factory reset,
3. Do the update again ...
I did it on my Honor 7 without any issue. Maybe it will help with the P8 Lite.
Eventually i purchased from the store, but obviously no cashback for a store purchase, although all 3 orders immediately tracked on topcashback, so will wait and see what happens to them
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
All the best.
Ttfn
normally CPW are quick, not on this occasion
Checked my card and no money has been taken, so ive been advised to order again

£4.95 each. Lots of different designs.
"iPhone is unlocked when you buy it SIM free but Apple's software means it locks to the first network you use it with."
and doesn't help me much :disappointed:
I still wonder, why...
I've found battery life to be good, have replaced the EMUI launcher with Nova and am pretty chuffed for the price. Built in tools for backup and optimisation are good too.
I've had my phone for a similar amount of time as you and I easily get 14 hours from a full charge.
But you will miss the high quality feel of the Moto G.
Not seen the P8 Lite 'in person' - it might be a beauty!

On-topic; I'm assuming the P9 lite is just round the corner, hence the deals on the P8 lite recently.
don't forget TCB at £5 too
and yes all CPW phones are unlocked (except Apple) and no bloatware
Our phones are unlocked!
Most of the phones we sell aren't locked to a network, including almost all of our SIM free phones. That means you can put any UK SIM card into your phone and enjoy the benefits of whichever UK network you prefer.
if not, where did you gets your unlocked from?
no preinstalled facebook or twitter, etc, which is a nice change. at least my p8 came without them.
