This has come down another £64 since I last posted it. Will no doubt go cold - but might help someone.
Product Description
When the original Les Paul evolved into the Les Paul/SG Standard in 1961, the evolution emobdied Les Paul's vision for a sleek, powerful, contemporary, solidbody electric guitar. The distinctive double-cutaway guitar, simply known as the SG, was an overnight success, and became a major rock and blues icon by the late '60s. The 2016 SG Standard T embodies all the tone, feel and look of the original rendition of this legendary guitar, all wrapped into a design that remains one of the most versatile guitars available today. The thin, lightweight mahogany body has the classic beveled edge for playin comfort, and delivers superb resonance and sustain through 490R and 498T humbuckers. Features common to Gibson USA's 2016 Traditional range include Gibson's original neck width of 1 11/16th at the nut, historic neck heel shape, standard quality manual tuners. Traditional Graph Tech nut, and a thicker one-piece rosewood fingerboard with a hand-rubbed oil finish for a plush look and feel. Put it together, and it is an American-made Gibson guitar that takes you straight to that classic '60s vibe.

Very good price for the Standard this early in the year.
Most prices are over £900 usually £999 but that often includes an interest free monthly payment so you can do a deal for a card or cash and get it reduced. £828 would be very good though.

Excellent value here, even if you add on a bit in your head for a pro set up by your favourite local luthier.
Just a shame they replaced the hard case with a gig bag this year. Almost certainly not a dealbreaker for most, but a shame nonetheless.

Beautiful axe, and would love one (even though my playing doesn't warrant it), but way out of my league financially!

Good price - IMHO my only worry buying such an expensive guitar sight unseen, is the Gibson QC these days can be a bit hit and miss (personal experience), and you may end up with one with a body made of three different slabs of wood. Unless they have stopped doing this now? My old SG is a single piece of wood, but in stores I have seen a bunch made from two and occasionally 3! Not that it effects the sound - it would just bug me personally after spending this much. However, all said and done, if your gonna buy it online anyway, then HOT deal
Oh, by QC I mean nut slot cut way too shallow. Intonation well out. Simple stuff that I can't believe they missed.

Ohmygosh I want one but I'd be too frightened to even pick it up. I have an epiphone copy, I want to know if there's truly £600 difference in the tone and playability.

Many people change the setup anyway, string gauge, action so the guitar gets a setup straight away, things like intonation and nut cut would get re-done anyway.
Things like an offset bridge, a poorly set neck or as you say - three piece body are unacceptable though and for this you simply return it.

They'll need amps. I recommend Marshall JVM210C 100w 2x12 Combo Amp each.
