Ugly watch, but you just have to love the battery life ... no need to recharge on a daily/weekly basis - lasts around 12 months before having to swap the batteries out.
That mentions the Garmin Vivosmart HR, which is a completely different model.
Generally, the chest strap heart rate monitors are fairly reliable. Though maybe less comfortable.
Whereas the wrist (optical) heart rate monitors can be inaccurate for some people, especially during exercise. There is a lot a of variation amongst them, some makes/models are a lot better than others.

This watch doesn't accurately estimate HR... If you want a HR monitor stick with a Polar FT2
