Yes, I know you can get it free on your smartphone. This is for those people who would prefer an actual satnav

Can get it free on a smartphone.....
How do these compare against Tomtom? I know that in the past it was always the free maps which gave Garmin the edge, but now TT do the same I was wondering if there is anything to favour one over the other?

From experience I wouldn't touch any Garmin sat nav.
I'm not sure what they are like in the UK but using it around Dublin was a complete nightmare. It could hardly find any street locations even the well known streets and was always directing me down one way streets and tram tracks.
Any time I tried to update using the "free lifetime updates " there were no updates available. If you are like me and rely on Sat nav for city driving then you should avoid Garmin. I now use Google maps on my smart phone and it finds every address. As I said I only used it in Dublin but what a terrible experience it was

1) "the same price like it was all the time" - Wrong. The price fluctuates between £69.99 and about £99.99
Only Amazon has had it for this price on a regular basis but they have sold it at this at this price for less than 50% of the time and it's usually only due to price match with other stores. This is easy to spot as it's offered with Amazon Prime and sold by Amazon themselves. Notice how the other sellers are selling it for a higher price.
2) "same price .... everywhere else" Wrong. Only a few places like Amazon and PCworld/Currys have it at this price. Most others sell it at £79.99 or more
3) Nice to see your first comment on HUKD was negative and a cold vote - How about posting some deals of your own sometime ?
Could you tell me how you got the app for free, or a link to download it. Please and thanks

I didn't, I was being humorous.... or trying to be!! Like the guy above said, you really cant beat Google Maps or Waze for a smartphone satnav app, that said, I'd never replace my Tomtom with a phone simply because I prefer it

Go to the Google play store with your smartphone and download the Google maps app

I know about google maps, thanks. The reason I asked was because I prefer a nagivationsystem which also shows the speed limits.
