Oh wow this looks soooo good! This is a trip and a half and with three weeks you'll experience Las Vegas, Australia and a road trip with RV from San Francisco to Los Angeles!
9-12 June
Fly from the UK to Las Vegas where you'll spend 3 nights in the MGM Grand, enough time to enjoy Vegas (you won't leave until late on the 12th so you have the full day).
12 June (Sydney 14-21 June)
Fly to Sydney (time differences mean you won't arrive until 2 days later). 7 nights in Sydney gives you ample time to explore. You will stay at the 4* Boutique Bayswater hotel for 7 nights and it is right near the station so no need for a car unless you want to head our further afield but you can easily explore the Blue Mountains, Bondi etc all using public transport.
21-29 June
You will fly from Sydney to San Francisco. You fly out of LA on 29th and I was looking at hotels but the cost is ao expensive! Instead hire an RV, there are campers cheaper but you have cooking and bathroom facilities in the RV. You most certainly will head to Yosemite but I'd strongly recommended making reservations NOW for sites rather than just turning up as it may be very busy.
On 29 June you'll fly back to London. Make sure you register for frequent flyer points as you'll be sure to acrue a fair few and can put these towards another trip.

More than 3 days in airports and on planes (once you allow for minimum 2hr check in and immigration etc) for a 3 week holiday !

Yep, but that would be the same as if you did it in three individual trips or this one trip.

But this isn't posted as 3 individual trips is it ? it's realistically a 17 day holiday with over 3 days of traveling on top, I checked the flights and although they are cheap you might have mentioned that because each flight is indirect it makes the journey a marathon and a real DVT threat for some people.
