In my living room, I have the lamp and most of my AV rack (not the Tivo or landline phone tho) on remote plugs.
Not this type though. Mine are on IR remote plugs, so I can control them from a Logitech multi-remote. Like everything else in the room. Why? So I don't have to haul my 4rSe off the sofa to switch them on an off. aka - sheer laziness.

I bought into the LightwaveRF ecosystem and it has been an massive disappointment. Control requests have been slow, unreliable, the software flawed and the timers seem to have a mind of their own. For the cost, I think it is garbage.
Is anyone able to compare the Lightwave stuff to this or any other brand that might be better?

I just received one of these and I'm also a Wemo user. Compared to a Wemo this Efergy is well built and has energy usage info but no integration with IFTTT. Much better than the Trendnet THA-101 though.

Would I be able to use this with an adapter here in Spain?

Not if the Uk leaves the EU. The Boris convention will require All such devices be disconnected.

Surely most things can be switched off at the plug manually, except fridge, freezer, router. A hard drive TV recorder will update over night so probably leave that on too. Switching lights on and off while you are away is pointless if the curtains are always open or closed. Where else would you use it?
