It's a bloody awful machine! The trap door flies open if you don't close it firmly and the whole machine clogs up very easily and then is very difficult to clean, and the rubber seal round the transparent waste container leaks, so dust builds up there and the brush clogs up and requires a full disassembly. The purple filtery thing inside really needs to be removed to be cleaned as that gets dust and fluff under it (and in it!) but you can't remove it without a special tool which isn't supplied.

There are many accounts on Amazon that the DC59's motorised head is compatible with this DC58, so I've ordered on strength. If not, it can always go back.
Firefly1
21 May 16#34
It's also 30% more expensive so shouldn't be considered on equal footing.
I went for the DC34 as it does a good enough job for occasional vacuuming.

seagullofDoom
21 May 161#42
Yes spot on, DC58 is just DC59 except it isn't supplied with the wand or cleaner head.
Rickardo
21 May 161#43
The price is a moot point as flipper already stated they might go for this as well. The longer run time and motorised head more than make up for the price (makes a significant difference doing the car, for example). I would hazard a guess it should be better longer term with recharging cycles etc.
Rickardo
21 May 16#44
The motorised head is supplied with it, so it'd be stupid for it not to work (which it does).

parkersblock
21 May 16#56
I don't own one personally, but if its powerful enough to clean the whole house in 20 mins, I might be in the market for one!

Thanks. just bought one from tesco direct. Decided to cancel the order and buy it from john lewis instead. The bad thing is that I can't use the £90 (worth £180) voucher at this Tesco point booster event anymore. Because the points will go to my account, and new vouchers will be issued in 3 months. But still, I think tesco points have many uses, so I prefer saving them so I can use them on something that is worth at least twice the vouchers' face values.
