Might be able to make the tube out of a few empty toilet roll tubes to make this into a DC59.

It's a bloody awful machine! The trap door flies open if you don't close it firmly and the whole machine clogs up very easily and then is very difficult to clean, and the rubber seal round the transparent waste container leaks, so dust builds up there and the brush clogs up and requires a full disassembly. The purple filtery thing inside really needs to be removed to be cleaned as that gets dust and fluff under it (and in it!) but you can't remove it without a special tool which isn't supplied.

Pretty sure you cant use the electric powered motorised heads on these as there are no power socket things where you plug in the attachments

It's also 30% more expensive so shouldn't be considered on equal footing.
I went for the DC34 as it does a good enough job for occasional vacuuming.

Apart from anything else, they always seem to leak around the rubber joints. The uprights are really bad in this respect.

Yes you can buy the wand and cleaner head direclty from dyson. Search for DC59. The wand is £50 And the cleaner head is £60.

The mini motorised tool is powered through the connectors in the wand cuff.

Expect to pay another £100 odd to convert the DC58 (handheld range) to a DC59 (cordless range) with the wand as well as motorised assembly.

Yes spot on, DC58 is just DC59 except it isn't supplied with the wand or cleaner head.

The price is a moot point as flipper already stated they might go for this as well. The longer run time and motorised head more than make up for the price (makes a significant difference doing the car, for example). I would hazard a guess it should be better longer term with recharging cycles etc.

The motorised head is supplied with it, so it'd be stupid for it not to work (which it does).

Buy this cheaper one and take it back to Tesco. Problem solved :wink:

i always suggest vacuuming something else after and then letting it keep going for another 30 seconds to be sure.

The bad thing is that I can't use the £90 (worth £180) voucher at this Tesco point booster event anymore. Because the points will go to my account, and new vouchers will be issued in 3 months. But still, I think tesco points have many uses, so I prefer saving them so I can use them on something that is worth at least twice the vouchers' face values.

It's a renamed DC59, not DC58. DC58 doesn't come with the long telescopic tube, or whatever it's called.

I put this thru Flubit and Flubit came up with £25.03. Hopefully, I will get a genuine Dyson wand. The part no. 965663-05 indicates it 's a genuine product.
