I was checking the range for a friend & stumbled upon this unusual mid season discount (17%). At £600 it was already keenly priced but nudging under the 500 barrier makes this a pretty good deal.
Summary for the lazy:
Aluminium frame with carbon bladed forks. 105 drivetrain (5700, 10 speed), Tiagra cassette, Prowheel Ounce compact chainset, Mavic Aksium ONE wheels. 9.5kg all in. And the usual lifetime warranty for the frame, stem, handlebar and rigid fork.
I use my Triban 500 '14 model every day for commuting & did a few sportives on it. Still a great bike & this is the next level up. i know looks are subjective but it looks good to me.
Update: Price has dropped lower but there still appears to be stock in S (As of 2pm 11/7/16). Awesome bargain.

Was just about to post this myself. Cracking deal. When this bike came out last year Bikeradar called it "one of the best bargains on the road". That was at £600. At under £500 it's a great deal for a good all round package. Mainly Shimano105 for £500 - and decent Mavic Askium wheels what's not to like? I have it's little brother the T520 (Sora and decathlon stock wheels £450) but if I'd known the T540 would come down to this price so soon I'd have happily waited to get one instead. Decathlon also offer a one year satisfaction guarantee.

I have this bike, really happy with it. Try getting anywhere near the same spec for under £500
Brakes
B'TWIN long dual-pivot callipers: reliability and power; a mudguard with stays can be fitted.

The OP already stated it's not full 105. Gear changes are smooth. brakes are fine. Tyres not great though.

If only the company I worked for allowed us to buy bikes through the cycle to work scheme from anywhere but Halfords.

Tested this bike in store today and loved it. Very good bike at this price, worked out to be £340 with CyclePlus scheme.
It weighs around 9.9 kg for a large frame (57cm).
